we're getting married!

Kalynne and Nick met in 2015 in New York City when Kalynne was working at Harry Winston and Nick was working at IBISWorld. Neither were native New Yorkers, but they shared a passion for the city’s fast-paced energy, rich cultural heritage, and unrivaled food scene. Their first date was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but every subsequent date became increasingly adventurous - Di Fara Pizza on Avenue J, admiring the Christmas light displays in Dyker Heights, lunch at Jean Georges, and bouncing from every dimly lit dive bar in between. Navigating new jobs in jewelry and financial services, lugging furniture across boroughs and Brooklyn, Kalynne and Nick grew closer and closer both in their love and in geography between Crown Heights and Cobble Hill. By the end of 2019, Nick had begun saving up for an engagement ring. But plans completely changed in March 2020, when the COVID-19 lockdown brought their frenetic adventures in Brooklyn to an abrupt and anxious stop. Despite its devastating global impact, the Coronavirus pandemic brought incredible opportunity for Kalynne and Nick. The two weathered the initial lockdown in his cozy Crown Heights apartment, where they spent their idle time building their catalog of Petrillo-Coleman Family Recipes and binging seasons of Survivor over tikka masala and vindaloo. With no end in sight to remote work and their leases in Brooklyn soon expiring, Kalynne and Nick became digital nomads. They hiked Yosemite, were leaf peepers in New England, vacationed with friends in Maine, sojourned for a month in Boston, celebrated Kalynne’s 30th birthday with a weekend getaway in Woodstock VT, and got to enjoy the weddings of friends across the country in the moments in between. Kalynne and Nick were engaged the morning of Thanksgiving 2020, joined in the happy moment by Kalynne’s family and the couple’s 12-week-old Australian shepherd Mac. Happily engaged but no longer content to return to their desk jobs in New York City, Kalynne and Nick kicked off their next adventure in October 2021 and relocated to Austin, TX. They hit the road with Mac as their sidekick, starting new jobs in a new part of the country they call home. In just a few months, Kalynne and Nick will have the privilege of being joined by loved ones like you in their wedding.
