How We Met

The best relationships start off as friendships

We met when we were sophomores at West Point. At the time Kenneth was seeing someone else and I didn't think much of him... he definitely teased me way too much! Over the years we became each other’s best friends; he was the peanut butter to my chocolate and I was the sugar to his spice. It wasn't until our senior year, on a long weekend trip to Montreal, that we realized we could be more than just best friends. Over our last year of college we fell in love slowly, and then what felt like all at once! Since then we have been taking on the world together, one adventure at a time.

The Proposal

A winter wonderland surprise

In December 2018, Kenneth and I travelled to Germany to visit my Dad for Christmas. During a weekend trip to Garmish, Kenneth took me on a beautiful hike in the German Alps to see the stunning Garmish ice gorge. Hiking is something that is very special to me and Kenneth because our very first trip together was a camping expedition out west to Wyoming and Montana. The mountains of Wyoming are a place we fell in love with, but more importantly where we fell in love with each other. On that day, Kenneth and I made it to a quiet, snow filled meadow at the top of one of the hiking trails. We were completely alone in our own winter wonderland, and Kenneth asked me to face towards the mountains so that he could take a picture of me with the Alps. When I turned back around, Kenneth was down on one knee holding up a ring. I was in so much shock that when Kenneth asked me to marry him I asked "really?!" before finally saying "yes!". Afterwards we walked back down the mountain together, slipping and sliding, hand in hand, to start the next great chapter of our lives together.

Our Wedding

January 11th 2019

For two years following our West Point graduation, Kenneth and I dealt with the hardships of being a dual military couple. We spent countless hours and drove thousands of miles to see each other while I was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Kenneth was at flight school in Fort Rucker, Alabama. Towards the end of flight school we found out that Kenneth was supposed to get stationed in South Korea. Although Kenneth had just proposed, we realized that we were meant to be together and didn't want the Army to come in between our relationship anymore. On January 11th, 2019 I made the 400 mile trip down to Fort Rucker, but this time to get married! Our good friend, "Doc", who works at the auto clinic where Kenneth and I spent hours upon hours during our weekends together, married us. On an early Friday morning, in the Fort Rucker Auto Clinic, Kenneth and I said our vows and promised each other forever. It was a small, intimate elopement with just us two, Doc and his wife Tanya as our witness. And of course our dear friends at the auto clinic who couldn't resist taking a break from turning wrenches to watch two, crazy kids begin their lives together. Even though our love story isn't conventional, it is our perfect version of happily ever after. Kenneth and I knew that no matter what we were meant to be together. And although you couldn't be there for our actual wedding, we are so grateful for you to come celebrate our marriage and our love!
