Custer

Drive through the hills to Custer. Stop at Pactola lake as you pass by, can swim and chill for a few. Gorgeous. Note Crazy Horse monument as you drive by just a little outside of Custer, can see it from the highway. Drive Custer state park, Buffalo nation. DON'T GET CLOSE THEY ARE NOT FRIENDLY, keep a HEALTHY distance. Custer food- Black Hills Burger and Bun Co The absolute best food I’ve ever had is at a tiny restaurant in Custer ,SD. Skogen is the name. You must make a reservation and it’s expensive but sooooo worth it. hike Black Elk Peak via Sylvan Lake. THIS IS MY FAVORITE HIKE! 6.5 miles ish but the best view at the top. Start early ish as it gets crowded as the day goes on. Rapid City

Sylvan Lake

Custer, SD 57730

Sylvan Lake is one of the prettiest places in the Black Hills. If you're looking for the best scenery around, hike the 3.5 miles up Black Elk Peak from Sylvan Lake and enjoy a 360 degree view of the Black Hills from my favorite spot in South Dakota. This trail is not for the faint of heart but worth every step.

Spearfish

Spearfish, SD

Food Killians- sit down different type of food Barbacoas- like qdoba but 100x better Nonnas kitchen- Italian Breakfast- the green bean coffee Breweries Spearfish brewing, best beer- must get pretzel bites and cheese curds Sawyer- great view by the river, also has pizza Crow peak Hikes in town Crow peak- 6.5 miles round trip, go in the morning, takes about 4 hr round trip Lookout Mountain- much shorter, looks over Spearfish, maybe over an hour total Short hikes but very fun Drive up Spearfish canyon it’s gorgeous Park at spearfish canyon lodge -Hike ‘76 Trail- short but pretty steep-hard level but worth it, great views -then from that same parking lot hike Roughlock Falls trail-2 miles super easy casual walk but by river and is pretty -Then on your way back down into spearfish hike Devils Bathtub. Wear something to get wet and water shoes because you pretty much just walk through the creek the whole way and can swim at the top. Very easy but super fun
