Things To Do

We're so excited our closest friends and family are making the trip to Newport to celebrate our wedding in a town that Dylan and I love to visit and is meaningful to us. Our favorite restaurants and other recommendations below!

Benjamin's

254 Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840

Our favorite bar, and you may recognize from our Save the Date. Be sure to check out the Grand Manier “club” lining the back walls. Daily raw bar happy hour 12-2pm $1.50 oysters. Downstairs, not upstairs. Get the clam chowder. End with a shot of GrandMa.

Clarke Cooke House

24 Bannister's Wharf, Newport, RI 02840

Midtown Oyster Bar

345 Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840

Newport Lobster Shack (Kitchen)

150 Long Wharf Mall, Newport, RI 02840

Very close to Marriott

The Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar

1 Sayers Wharf, Newport, RI 02840

We always enjoy the food here, but also love to go middle of the day for drinks & a seafood tower at the bar

Bar 'Cino

22 Washington Square, Newport, RI 02840

Italian specialties, pastas, extensive wine list, best to reserve ahead

The Lawn Terrace at Castle Hill Inn

590 Ocean Drive, Newport, RI 02840

Upscale hotel, restaurant, and bar overlooking Narragansett Bay. Weather permitting a great place to enjoy drinks sitting on their Adirondack chairs with a view. Without reservation, say you are going to “the lawn” for drinks at the gate. Formal dining option at Castle Hill as well with reservation.

The Black Pearl

30 Bannister's Wharf, Newport, RI 02840

Giusto

4 Commercial Wharf, Newport, RI 02840

White Horse Tavern

26 Marlborough Street, Newport, RI 02840

Upscale restaurant in a historic tavern open since 1673 (noted as America's oldest restaurant)

Wharf Fishhouse & Tiki Bar

41 Bowens Wharf, Newport, RI 02840

Can't speak to the food, but they have buck a shuck Thursday-Sunday 4:30-6pm!

Corner Café

110 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840

American breakfast, highly recommended, don’t be surprised if there’s a short wait

Scratch Kitchen & Catering

88 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840

Tiny, casual spot that is good for breakfast, BUT also go for lunch for SO MANY interesting grilled cheese & mac and cheese. Also has lots of soup options and their chili is delish.

Cru Cafe

1 Casino Terrace, Newport, RI 02840

Casual eatery for both breakfast and lunch, order at counter and seat yourself. BYOB for mimosa and bloody mary mixers provided.

Matunuck Oyster Bar

629 Succotash Road, South Kingstown, RI 02879

While this is not in Newport, we LOVE this place. We will stop either on our way in our out no matter what. Recommend during the day or sunset to enjoy the water view.

Things to do

Walk, shop, dine all along Thames Street Cliff Walk Newport Mansions Drive Ocean Rd - there are beautiful scenic outlooks and pull-off areas (combine with drinks at Castle Hill lawn) Walk across the little bridge to Goat Island for drinks at the hotel & to see a cute little lighthouse Get Del's frozen lemonade Greenvale Vineyards Prefer this one over Newport Vineyards for the experience. No rez needed and lots of outside tables (as well as smaller indoor available too). BYO food, but they do generally have food trucks on weekends. Live music on Saturdays 12-4. Newport Vineyards Reservation needed, and not BYO food (BUT if you do goo, the razor clams are amazing and the clam chowder is in my top 3). Kayaking if it's nice (we have done over the bridge in Jamestown)
