It was May of 2017, right after junior year wrapped up. Cody was at UNC Charlotte, I was at Winthrop, and on one perfectly ordinary summer night at Rooftop 210 in Uptown Charlotte, everything changed. I was out with my girlfriends celebrating a friend's birthday (shoutout to Jenna, the real MVP of this story!) and if you know me at all, you know I love a dance floor. What you may not know is that Cody likes to get down too. So there I was, dancing the night away with my girls, when this handsome man walked up and asked if I had my boogie shoes on. Now, being from Michigan, I was shook - the genuine southern accent, the boldness, and what I genuinely thought was the funniest pickup line I'd ever heard. But he wasn't wrong. I did in fact have my boogie shoes on. Mine happened to be a pair of wedges. His? Cowboy boots. Funny how one song, one dance, one question can make a crowded rooftop feel like it's just the two of you. Before we parted ways, we exchanged numbers, and a few days later he reached out. Our first date was something straight out of a cheesy romcom. He pulled up to my college house - shoutout to the ADPi house lol - in a big ol' red pickup truck. We got Mexican for dinner and somehow stumbled across a dinky little pop-up fair right across the street. We played a few games, he actually won one, and I went home with a pink stuffed lizard. Truly iconic. Since it was summer, we had little breathing room between my internship and restaurant job and his business he had just started the year before - a pressure washing company and something called a valet trash. Foreshadowing at its finest! It wasn't long before we made things official, and I was genuinely over the moon. He was funny, such a gentleman, and we were both working hard toward our goals. A few months in, I finally agreed to ride along with him (or at least sit in the truck) while he ran his valet trash route. It wasn't exactly my favorite pastime at the time, but it was always a fun time together. Afterward, it was pizza, Chipotle, or Texas Roadhouse. 👌 Looking back, we've done so much together and I wouldn't change it for the world - long road trips, finishing college together, late night workouts, exploring new cities, packing up and moving to different states, pulling trash together (a lot of trash), building a company, but most importantly building the foundation of our future. There's been a lot of hard work poured into this relationship, yet somehow it's always felt like the easiest, most natural thing in the world. People ask how we make it work, and honestly, we're not totally sure - it just does. We have big goals, big dreams, and we are not afraid to go after them. Together. And then came Las Vegas. 🥰 Last June, after a big trade show week, Cody got down on one knee - and I had absolutely no idea it was coming. Zero. We had our CCS family with us, and we were at the most beautiful hotel resort pool when he asked. The second I said yes, the whole place erupted. They brought out champagne, everyone cheered, and I bawled like a baby - the happiest kind of crying there is. God knew exactly what He was doing when He put us both on that rooftop dance floor in May of 2017. Now we can't wait to celebrate with every single one of you on September 4th, 2026. See you on the dance floor. 🤍 Much love, Justine & Cody
