They say you should never fall in love with a co-worker. Well, Sam and Justin were never very good at listening to other people who try to tell them how to live our lives. Let's take a journey back to 2018 when Sam first began working for Plateau CRM as a part time archaeologist. Her new supervisor, Adam, brought her up to Airway Heights to do her first field project. That is where she first met Justin, in a tick infested wheat field in Airway Heights. Not glamorous, and not love at first sight. But, all good love stories take time to grow and this was one of them. No good love story can be all sunshine and roses. This story is actually more like a grumpy/sunshine tale. Justin was always aloof and quiet while working with Sam, and Sam was ready to happily tell her life story to him since he listened so well! While enemies to lovers may be a semi appropriate description of their love story, the enemies portion was all in good fun. If you know Sam and Justin, you know that both of them have a genuine desire to be the best by any (almost) means necessary. And when you pair a Slytherin and a Gryffindor together, you're bound to get a healthy dose of work place competition and rivalry. But over the years, this rivalry and competitive nature turned into one of teamwork, cooperation, and, dare we say, even friendship! After 3 years of knowing each other, it was safe to say that attraction and friendship had blossomed between these two. Turns out, when you can easily spend 16 hours driving around the state with someone, and genuinely enjoy their company while living on gas station food and milkshakes, it might be a safe sign that a long-lasting relationship is on the horizon. In 2021, Sam and Justin had their first date. Now, this date was proceeded by many long talks on the phone about life, the future, plans, and goals. When you want to date your co-worker, it's probably a good idea to make sure you're on the same page before starting down that road. One date turned into two, turned into weekends, and then weekdays spent in each other's company. By November, it was obvious that this was a relationship that would stand the test of time. In March of 2022, Sam and Justin closed on their beautiful home and spent countless late nights renovating. Again, their history of friendship and teamwork played a huge role in successfully navigating cat pee soaked LVP flooring, buying sofas that were too big for doorways, and re-tiling and entire shower. A huge fight due to a 1,000 pound piano and a narrow doorway was avoided thanks to their wonderful best friend Emily who thankfully intervened. In February of 2023, Sam and Justin had traveled to San Diego to visit her family for a week. Upon arrival, Sydney demanded to have a nail appointment with her sister as was the tradition any time Sam came home. While this did not particularly set any alarm bells off in Sam's head, Justin's repeated interest in what color her nails were was a sure sign that something was amiss. Wednesday morning rolled around, and Sam and Justin woke to the news that mountains in California had received snow and the roads were closed. Plans of a picnic, apple pie, and apple cider were instantly dashed. A quick change in plans forced them to settle on a local hike and picnic near Calavera Lake in Carlsbad, California. Nothing was suspicious until Justin put on jeans to go for a hike (and if you know Justin, you know he is a sweat pants man till the end). Once Sam saw this she thought that maybe, just maybe, a proposal might happen! Not three minutes into the hike, Justin requested they stop so he could "get some strawberries in the backpack". Down on one knee, Justin said something about wanting to marry Sam. However, Sam completely blacked out from the shock of the proposal and cannot recall a single thing he said. All she knows is that she launched herself at him, screamed yes, and they started their adventure to marriage on February 22, 2023.
