Flight
For folks coming from South Florida, ITA Airways has direct overnight flights from Miami (MIA) into Rome (FCO) daily. Rome (FCO) is the largest Italian airport with the most direct flights, and is about a 2.5 hrs drive to Villa Nemora. There are also routes on other airlines (you can book with American, Delta, etc.) to closer Italian airports that include layovers. We recommend booking your flights as soon as possible (Google Flights currently lists the pricing as "Typical" so keep an eye on the pricing as it could fluctuate). We recommend using Google Flights as you can use the date grid to find days with inexpensive flights. Flying in and out of Rome on weekdays is typically less expensive. Remember that if you choose a flight departing Sunday evening, you'll arrive on Monday morning. Nonstop flights are typically around the same price as flights with a layover. If you'd prefer such, Florence (FLR) is about 1 hr away, Pisa (PSA) is about 1 hr 50 mins away, and Perugia (PEG) is about 1hr 10 mins away. You could fly with an airline such as Tap Air Portugal which stops over in Lisbon. Pricing will be similar to the nonstop flight to Rome, but Florence is closer to the venue if you'd prefer not to rent a car.
Flight
Rome (FCO) is the largest Italian airport, and has the most flights coming from the USA during the summertime. If you are flying from New York, JFK typically has many nonstop flights each day with Delta, United, American and ITA Airways. Delta and ITA typically have 3 flights a day departing to Rome. The Delta flight will run you around $1,400 roundtrip; the ITA flight will be less expensive, around $1,000 roundtrip. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about your travel arrangements. If you find a more economical flight to Florence (FLR), the drive to Villa Nemora is about 1 hr away. Pisa (PSA) is 1hr 50 mins away, and Perugia (PEG) is 1hr 10 mins away. We recommend booking your flights 6 months before the wedding, as that is typically when pricing is favorable. We also recommend using Google Flights as you can use the date grid to find days with less expensive flights. Remember that if you choose a flight departing Sunday evening, you'll arrive on Monday morning. Nonstop flights are typically around the same price as flights with a layover.
Travel Note
We highly recommend renting a car, as the venue is deep within the Tuscan countryside. There are Taxi companies and transfers that can be organized as well, as that may be more convenient for those flying into Florence (FCO). Uber exists in the major cities of Italy, but out here, calling a cab is the only real possibility, and may not be as reliable. Avis is a US-based car rental company that has pickup/drop-off locations throughout Italy. You may choose to rent a car with others as well, such as Sixt. Avis rentals will probably run around $400 for a Monday-Friday rental. We've used Avis because they typically include the collision waiver, and have found them to be less expensive than others. In Italy, renting a car is fairly simple, and you likely won't be asked for anything other than your US Passport. However, technically, you are required to have an international driving permit if you get pulled over, and they COULD ask you for your international driving permit. It sounds intimidating, but the permit is super easy to get, and just requires an application. You can obtain it for $20 from AAA here in the US. You can get it by mail, or I just went in to a AAA branch (yes, those exist) and it took about 20 minutes. https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html

Rome Airport (FCO), larger and more accessible, is just about a 2.5 hour drive to Villa Nemora. Florence Airport (FLR), although smaller, is just only an hour drive to Villa Nemora. Check-In at Villa Nemora opens at 3:00pm on June 1st, and our Welcome Party festivities will begin around 7:00pm.
