Flight
We recommend looking for flights into Paris, Nantes, or La Rochelle. From any of those cities, it is an easy train ride to Poitiers, nearby to Celle-Lévescault. Paris has three airports, but only one that has a train station on site: Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. We find it is best to purchase tickets ~3 months out but it's also good to have travel alerts set up on your preferred flight purchase site before that just in case!
Train
The train options in France are endless and amazing -- truly the best way to get around. But, there are many, many acronyms, and it can be confusing! We are here to help. SNCF (Société nationale des chemins de fer français or National Company of the French Railways) is the company that runs all the main line trains, including the high speed rail (TGV - Train à Grande Vitesse) that you will want to take from where you arrive to Poitiers! There are a couple of "brands" of TGV. The primary one is inOui, which costs a bit more, and the secondary is Ouigo, which costs a bit less. However, they are essentially the exact same service and the price is also not that different, so I wouldn't worry too much about booking one over the other. Just look for a TGV train that leaves at the time you would need. I recommend booking your train at the same time as your flight as the price can increase and trains can even sell out. You will want to set your destination as Poitiers (Gare de Poitiers). Click here for the SNCF website to search for and book a train!

In Paris, you will see a few different Public Transit options and will need to purchase tickets according to your plans. There are two primary train types, RER and Metro. RER is the regional train that goes from the suburbs to central Paris, and Metro primarily serves central Paris. They require different kinds of tickets. Tickets also cost more or less depending on distance travelled. If you plan on only taking the train into Paris from CDG and then staying in central Paris, you can buy a single RER ticket into central Paris, and then a booklet of single tickets for the Metro. You can speak with a ticket agent at the RER station at CDG who will be happy to help! Click here for more information!

Our ceremony will be at an old farm just outside of Celle-Lévescault. I would recommend looking for a hotel, AirBnB, or gîtes anywhere between Poitiers and Vivonne. We may have more information regarding lodging and help with coordinating groups soon!

Once you’re in Poitiers, here are your best options for getting around — both in town and to the wedding venue: 🚙 Car Rental The wedding venue is in the countryside and a bit tricky to access. Depending on your lodging and plans, renting a car in Poitiers may be the easiest option. All major car rental agencies are available at Poitiers train station. We do not recommend renting a car in Paris and driving to Poitiers — the train is faster and easier. Important: To drive in France, you’ll need an International Driver’s License (easy to get from AAA or online). 🚕 Taxis If you’d rather not rent a car, taxis are available, and we’ve identified a few reliable, English-friendly options. We strongly recommend booking in advance, especially for rides late at night or to/from the venue. Taxi Options: 1️⃣ Taxi Liberty (Taxi Grand Poitiers) Website (English available): Taxi Liberty Phone/WhatsApp: +33 6 18 82 86 00 Driver uses Google Translate for communication. 2️⃣ Taxi Mélusin Phone/WhatsApp: +33 6 07 21 08 43 4 taxis (4 passengers each) + 1 van (7 passengers) Rates: ~65–75 € (day), ~90–100 € (night) 3️⃣ François Robin Taxi Phone/WhatsApp: +33 6 95 83 13 62 1 taxi (4 passengers) Rates: ~65 € (day), ~95 € (night) Tips for using taxis: WhatsApp is often the easiest way to communicate. Dial +33 and drop the first 0 when calling from a US phone. Have your pickup & drop-off address ready. Taxis do not roam the streets like in big US cities — they must be booked in advance. 🛻 Ride Sharing & Coordination Please make sure you use our spreadsheet to coordinate rental cars and taxi rides. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15Pt0zcM5mIOkIPqrj7x1DSQsjv0iRn0CZi-jiEOSjro/edit#gid=0 If you’d like to be connected with others to share transportation, please reach out to Justin.
