Redon
15 Minute Drive Just a short drive from Château Le Brossay, Redon offers several activities to enjoy. Take a peaceful walk along the Nantes-Brest Canal, where tree-lined paths and moored boats create a serene atmosphere. While there, visit the historic Eglise Saint-Sauveur, a beautiful church known for its architecture and quiet ambiance. Redon’s town center is also a great spot to explore local cafés and shops -- Akène Creperie is a particular highlight! On Saturday mornings, the town hosts a large farmers' market.
Rochefort-en-Terre
30 Minute Drive This picturesque village is a particular highlight in Brittany and is often regarded as one of France’s most beautiful. The cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and flower-filled squares create a magical atmosphere. The Château de Rochefort-en-Terre, now an art gallery, is worth a visit, and the local cafés and shops offer plenty of charm for a leisurely afternoon.
The Megaliths of Saint-Just
25 Minute Drive The megalithic site of Saint-Just is one of the largest in Brittany, featuring over 40 prehistoric monuments, including standing stones (menhirs), dolmens, and burial cairns. The Champ des Demoiselles, an alignment of tall stones from around 5,000 BCE, is the most famous section, surrounded by legends of enchanted dancers turned to stone. Peaceful walking trails wind through the site, offering a blend of history and natural beauty.
La Gacilly
20 Minute Drive Known for its artisan workshops and picturesque streets, La Gacilly is a delightful destination. Explore local crafts, including soap making and glassblowing, and enjoy the charming atmosphere of this creative hub. There's a lively farmers' market on Saturday mornings, and just outside the town there's a large forest with many hiking paths ("Forêt de la Gacilly").
Brière Regional Nature Park
40 Minute Drive The Parc Naturel Régional de Brière is a stunning natural reserve, renowned for its sprawling marshlands, tranquil canals, and traditional thatched-roof cottages. Visitors can explore the area by flat-bottomed boats, called "chalands," offering incredible opportunities to spot herons, egrets, and other wildlife.
