David and Shauna met at a cookout in Boston in August of 2015 where both his fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma, and her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, were represented. Shauna was bold and put her number in David's phone. One, because she thought he was cute, and two, because his fraternity brother was having an after party and she needed the address! Fast forward to 2016. After much back forth, and a few failed flirting attempts on David's part (including a chaperoned date with his frat brother and now groomsman), David and Shauna finally went on a successful date. It didn't take long for the two to find a spark. The relationship was tested early on, as David went away for school in Virginia just a few months after they began dating. This served as the litmus test to see if the duo were meant to be. Sure enough, David obtained his Master's and made his way back to Boston, and to Shauna, and the rest is history.

In early 2018, David told Shauna that they were going to do a photo shoot for their two year anniversary in April. The day came, and, as with most surprises in their relationship, Shauna was completely oblivious! David brought all of their friends and family together (catching Shauna completely off guard) to watch a film that he had produced, with a voice over speaking about the act of falling in love. At the end of the video, David gave a speech (and shed a tear - David will tell you it was his allergies), walked over to Shauna, got down on one knee and proposed!
