Flight

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

The San Francisco Bay Area has three major international airports – San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Oakland International Airport (OAK), and San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC). For this event, we highly recommend choosing SFO or OAK because they are the closest to the main events for this wedding weekend. They both have options for car rentals, ride share apps, and public transportation (BART).

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)

BART is the area's heavy rail system — think, our version of a subway. It's meant to get you across the Bay Area (e.g. Oakland to SF). You can buy individual tickets or (easier) download the Clipper Card app on your phone to load money onto a pass. BART trains typically run every 15 minutes from 5 a.m. - 8 p.m., after which their frequency changes to every 30 minutes. BART services typically stop around midnight. We do not recommend that our guests use BART at night and that you consult with Julie/Josh about taking BART to certain neighborhoods (e.g. The Mission District) since it can be dicey.

MUNI (San Francsisco Municipal Railway)

Muni is used to travel within San Francisco's city limits. The service includes bus lines, trolleybuses, light rail lines and cable cars. MUNI has its own MuniMobile app for purchasing fares, or you can also use a Clipper Card. Josh and Julie travel using the MUNI light rail very frequently and recommend it for visitors.

Cost of Ride Share Apps

Uber and Lyft are widely used in the Bay Area, and you will find it easy to book even at late hours. However, please note that the fares are much higher in this region compared to those elsewhere. A one-way trip to/from the airport could range from $40-90, with higher rates at rush hour.

Parking Options

Parking options are available, but limited. We recommend secure garages, rather than open lot or street parking. The Olympic Club Garage is closest parking location to the Marines Memorial Club. For hotel guests, there is a reduced rate of $41 plus tax for standard vehicles for 24 hrs with in/out privileges. There is a higher rate of $91 for over-sized vehicles (eg full size trucks, vans). You can find other public garages can be found in the area, but would need to walk to the venue from there. The prices in these garages vary, but expect at least $35 for a full day.
