After "swiping right" on a dating app and exchanging a series of comical messages, Josh asked Julie for a first date. Like all other Pandemic-era couples, they met up for a walk at Julie's favorite park in Palo Alto (Foothills Nature Preserve). Julie knew that Josh was something special when he asked to take her to get tacos the next day.

Josh planned a spontaneous weekend trip up to the far North Coast of California for Memorial Day Weekend. On that foggy, overcast Saturday morning, he led her on a short hike along the remote Black Sands Beach. He surprised her halfway through by getting down on one knee while she was taking a much-needed water break. Julie immediately said "Yes."
