It was the week before Covid 19, and we were just two people at the local bar, Second Best, across the street from where we were both living in Detroit. I remember when I first saw Stefan I knew there was going to be a story of us ending up together one way or another. In his typical charming fashion, he made it pretty easy for me to open up to him. At one point I was telling him how Pacifico's remind me of spending time in San Diego with my Dad, and twenty minutes later he was coming back from the bar with a Pacifico in hand for me. This simple interaction speaks so much about Stefan's character- he's always listening and truly one of the most thoughtful people I know. The next weekend we went to brunch and we were placing bets on how "real" we thought Covid was and if we would have to quarantine for longer than 2 weeks. We had already joked about quarantining together because, why not? Fast forward 8 months and we were seeing each other basically every day. It's true that quarantining together expedites relationships, because at 1 month in we were already grocery shopping together and the next thing I knew I drove down to Florida with him and his friends for 3 weeks. We won't get into that story..iykyk Our first time dating came to an end when Stef finally did what he said he was going to do from day 1, move to Denver. I was truly devastated, but I always hoped there would be more to our story at some point in our futures. About a year later I matched at UCLA for my residency training and was ready to live my best SoCal life; first time ever moving away from home, single, when my best friend Danielle invited me to be her plus one at a wedding she was going to in Denver...one thing led to another and Stefan was out visiting me in LA the following weekend and packed his bags and moved in with me 3 months later. We've been living our dream lives in Marina del Rey with our psycho child Yogi ever since!
