Travel Note
Driving is the easiest way to get from the airport to Boulder, so we'd recommend renting a car if you are able. You could also take an Uber/Lyft, or take the RTD bus (Route AB1) from the airport to Downtown Boulder Station. The bus runs every half hour. Either buy tickets at the kiosk, on the RTD Ticket App, or pay exact fare on the bus.
Travel Note
If you are staying in Lyons, we'd recommend you get a rental car because while there is a bus from the airport to Boulder, there isn't public transit between Boulder and Lyons, and there is no rideshare option in our little town. You could, in theory, take a Lyft/Uber from the airport to Lyons. There is also a bus from DIA to Boulder, and then you could take an Uber/Lyft to Lyons. You would have to schedule an Uber/Lyft in advance to come get you and take you back to Boulder after the wedding.
Travel Note
There are not rideshare services in Lyons! If you are staying in Lyons, it would be easiest if you had a car, but you could walk around town and catch a ride to our house for the wedding. If you are staying in Boulder, you can easily get around the city with ridesharing. To get to Lyons for the wedding, you can take an Uber/Lyft from Boulder. But you would have to be sure to schedule an Uber/Lyft pick-up *in advance* to take you back to Boulder from Lyons.
Travel Note
There aren't a ton of AirBnB options in Lyons, so we'd recommend booking as far in advance as possible if you'd like to stay in town. If you have a car, you could look for cabins in the North and South St. Vrain Canyons (towns of Allenspark and Pinewood Springs). If you'd like to stay in Boulder, there are many more Airbnb options. If you're looking for a quiet neighborhood near hiking trails, we'd recommend looking near Chautauqua and in the western part of the city, like the Mapleton Hill and Newlands neighborhoods. If you'd like to be within walking distance to grocery stores and shopping, look in Downtown or near Broadway & Alpine. We wouldn't recommend staying near the university or on University Hill...it gets pretty rowdy with the college students.
Travel Note
There are no hotels in Lyons. In Boulder, your best bet would probably be the Marriott or Hilton, both on 28th & Canyon. There are two boutique hotels that are downtown, the St. Julien Hotel and Spa and the historic Hotel Boulderado. For indie owned lodging, check out Basecamp Boulder, A-Lodge Boulder, and the cottages at Chautauqua.
Travel Note
There are many options in the area if you're keen to get a little camping in while you're out here. Laverne Johnson Park is the closest, right in Lyons, and it has RV and tent sites. It's a wonderful park to play, fish, and hike. You can also check out campground reservations at Rocky Mountain National Park, dispersed camping at Switzerland Trail, Pawnee Campground at Brainard Lake, and various dispersed campsites along the Peak to Peak Highway. Let us know if you'd like to borrow gear while you're out here, either over the wedding weekend or if you'd like to extend your trip on either end.
