Please RSVP by August 1st for the wedding on Saturday, October 5th. To our family, please RSVP by September 1st for the Friday evening welcome party and Sunday morning breakfast. To anyone wishing to come help us set up on Friday the 4th, you're welcome to RSVP here on the website if you know in advance you'll come, but you can also just shoot us a text and swing by.
Yes, your children are warmly and sincerely invited to join in the wedding festivities! Please just be sure to supervise your children carefully while you are here, especially because there is live electric fencing and river access. We will have some things set out for children, and there are a few excellent climbing trees and lots of room to run and play. Please have your child(ren) wear close-toed shoes! And please let Jules know if you would like to be connected with a babysitter in Lyons or Boulder, if you want to borrow a pack-n-play or other gear from one of her friends while you're here, or if there is anything you need to help make your travels here with your children more easeful!
Yes, by all means! If you have a food allergy or dietary restrictions, please let us know (call/text) by September 1st. We will plan to have gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian options regardless.
Whatever feels celebratory and fun for you! Think "mountain chic meets festive casual." Any of these would be appropriate... khakis, chinos, or dark jeans, a button up or blouse, a sports coat, sundress or cocktail dress, jumpsuit, boots, sandals... wherever the intersection of celebratory, festive, and a little practical lands for you. Do keep in mind we are in the arid high desert, and we will be outside for the duration of the celebration. It will likely be warm or even hot during the day and then drop to cool or maybe cold once the sun sets. Please consider sunscreen and a sun hat during the day, and bring warm layers for after dark such as a jacket/puffy, warm hat, or leggings to put on under a dress. You might want to wear shoes that will keep your feet warm after sunset, like blunnies, boots, or loafers. Please wear shoes you are comfortable walking in on uneven, sandy ground, grass, and gravel. Please have your children wear close-toed shoes.
There is not local Uber or Lyft service in Lyons, so please plan to drive home carefully. If you are staying in Boulder, you can take an Uber/Lyft from Boulder to our house, but be sure to schedule an Uber/Lyft *in advance* to bring you back to the city! Please let us know if you need help getting back to your accommodations safely after the wedding.
Our wish is for our wedding to be a time to gather and celebrate with family and friends. It is our hope that each guest feels comfortable, is present, and gets to enjoy this shared experience. Please enjoy alcohol in moderation. We ask that you do not smoke or vape near the wedding party, our housemates' doors, or any children who might be around the yard playing. Please walk up to the top of the driveway, and be extremely cautious of any ashes.
Our lovely neighbors Todd & Becky have graciously allowed our guests to park on their property. Their house is just next door to the north of ours (the white and blue Victorian). Please pay careful attention to the parking signs. You are also welcome to park down by the bridge (north end of Apple Valley Road) or along the west side of Apple Valley Road. Please do not park in front of our neighbors' houses. And please be so, so careful driving in our neighborhood. There are always folks out walking their dogs, children playing, horseback riders, cyclists, etc. The speed limit on Apple Valley Road is 25, but please consider going 20 and be cautious on the curves.
Thank you so much for asking! Part of what drew us to a backyard wedding was wanting to share this home and the gardens that we love so much with our friends and family. In that spirit, you are invited to come on Friday from 9-2 to help us with set up, harvesting, light cooking, and flower arranging. And if you feel so inclined, you are more than welcome to come on Sunday afternoon to help us tidy up.
We want to give a big, squeezy hug & heartfelt thank you to Joan Rasmussen, the multi-disciplinary, many-talented (baking! design! coding! painting! non-profit building!) artist and Jules' dear friend who so kindly and carefully painted our wedding invitations. We are so grateful. And more heartfelt and humble thanks go to Avery Oatman of Avery Lee Designs. This wonder woman artist magic mama we are lucky to call a friend creates the most beautiful, thoughtful jewelry from ethically and sustainably sourced metals and stones from her home studio in Longmont. We are so honored to wear her beautiful rings 'til death do us part!
