Question

What is the venue?

Answer

Written by KristiAnna: “It is deeply meaningful to be getting married at my grandmother’s home, a place that holds generations of family memories and love. Built in 1880 by my great-great-grandparents, R.G. and Orie Moon Dickerson, the home has remained a treasured part of our family’s story for well over a century. Orie was originally from an estate in Virginia called “Shirley,” and in homage to her roots, the property was lovingly named the same. The road on which it sits was once known as Shirley Road before 911 address changes in the early 2000s; it is now Virginia Avenue, still honoring its namesake. R.G. and Orie raised four sons in the home, one of whom was my great-grandfather, Frank. Frank and his wife, Lillian, raised their son, James Louis “Toddy” Dickerson, my grandfather, within these same walls. Born in the house, Toddy later married my grandmother, LaReeta, on June 10, 1962, and together they raised their three children, Lori, Cindy, and my father, Jim - at Shirley. My parents got married and built a home next door before I was born, so this land is all I’ve ever known. This house has always been the heart of our family, hosting countless holidays, celebrations, and cherished moments throughout the years. To be married at Shirley, surrounded by the legacy of those who came before me, is a privilege and a joy. I truly couldn’t imagine beginning this next chapter anywhere else.”

Question

What is transportation like?

Answer

Homerville is a charming small town; however, due to its size, ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft are not readily available unless arranged from nearby Valdosta or another larger city. We recommend planning ahead by coordinating carpooling or securing a rental vehicle (if flying in).
