After JT proposed at River Oaks Garden Club in Houston. He totally nailed it. He rented out the garden club venue, then took KristiAnna back to the same restaurant they went to on their first date.

How We Met

Love Takes Flight!

JT is the youngest of three, with two wonderful older sisters—Lauren and Sarah Anne. Lauren is married to Johnathan, and they both worked for Delta Air Lines as flight attendants, along with KristiAnna and 30,000 others - just at this airline alone. Keep this large number in mind as it makes the string of coincidences ahead even more unbelievable… (These days, Lauren’s swapped the aisle for the cockpit—she’s now a pilot. If you ever find yourself in need of the best pilot in St Simon’s - we know the girl!) Way back in 2018, KristiAnna and Johnathan found themselves seated next to each other on a flight from New York to Jacksonville. Both were headed home from work, to St Mary’s for Johnathan and Homerville for KristiAnna. They struck up a casual conversation about football. Johnathan may be the biggest football fan you’ll ever meet, and KristiAnna mentioned her dad was a football coach. After landing, they went their separate ways. End of story… for now. They were blissfully unaware they’d just kicked off a multi-year domino effect. Fast forward 3 years to August 2021, they ran into each other again - this time in New York. KristiAnna and her friend, Kristen, were flying to Ireland (as passengers, not working) to celebrate KristiAnna’s birthday. Who was working the flight? None other than Johnathan! Somehow football got brought up again, and KristiAnna mentioned her dad.. again! (History repeats itself.) Johnathan realized he remembered their chat 3 years prior. Johnathan had brought along his younger brother on this 72 hour Dublin layover (“how does he get these trips?!”, KristiAnna wonders) and KristiAnna invited them out with more friends and crew members to celebrate her birthday after landing in Ireland. After some more conversation, Johnathan knew KristiAnna was perfect for someone (just not his brother in law! What a horrible wingman!) He told KristiAnna she reminded him of his wife, Lauren. “You two would love each other,” he said. He showed KristiAnna a picture of Lauren and said “if you ever see her around, that’s my wife, you should introduce yourself because I think yall would be friends.” Fast forward two years later. Fate, and the airline scheduling system, worked their magic. This time, it wasn’t KristiAnna and Johnathan who were seated together—but KristiAnna and Lauren herself. Both were flying to New York from Jacksonville as commuting flight attendants: KristiAnna had a flight to work to San Francisco, and Lauren was jetting off to Brazil (as one does). Somewhere over the clouds, they discovered the Johnathan connection, bonded over their mutual obsession with monograms and embroidery, and realized Lauren had even done embroidery for some of KristiAnna’s cousins. Cue the “Wait, what?!” moment. As the plane began its descent, Lauren casually dropped, “Oh, I have a brother in Texas. He’s an engineer. Here, let me show you a picture.” One peek and KristiAnna’s ears perked up faster than the drink cart on a short flight. Lauren, ever the professional matchmaker (and pilot, and monogrammer), texted JT: “Heads up, you’re about to get an Instagram follow request from a flight attendant. You’re welcome.” One week later, KristiAnna flew to Houston for their first date. Sparks flew. Steaks were eaten. An estate sale was visited. All of KristiAnna’s favorite things. And, spoiler alert, they’re getting married. And remember Sarah Anne, JT’s other sister? Lauren introduced her to her husband too. So yes, Lauren has a real side hustle going in matchmaking. Monograms, mile-high connections, and now two marriages? Somebody get this woman her own reality show!
