Question

What’s the best way to get there from the airport?

Answer

A rental car could be a great option if you want to do any activities while you're there. Todos Santos is 6 miles north and full of galleries and delicious restaurants – definitely worth a visit. There are gorgeous beaches all around. The new highway between Cabo and the Ranch is now 4 lanes. The highway is finished and fantastic. It now takes about an hour to drive from the Rancho to Cabo. Rancho Pescadero can arrange for a shuttle for up to 10 people to pick you up from the airport for $165 per trip ($330 roundtrip). They also have the ability to coordinate smaller cars for around $100 each way (exact price will vary). If you would like to coordinate a pick up, please email the hotel directly at Rancho1@ranchopescadero.com or call them directly at 910-330-8891. hey can also arrange cabs for you while you are there. If you are really into adventure travel; it is possible to take the bus from Cabo!

Question

Cost of renting a car

Answer

We recommend that most traveling from SJD rent a car, which is easy to do. The daily rate is typically around $1.50/day for a sedan, but you will need to add insurance on top of this price. There are two insurances- one for liability (typically $20/day) and one for collision (also $20/day), $40/day total. If you have a travel-focused credit card (like Chase Sapphire Reserve) you can usually waive the collision insurance because it's covered by your credit card. The liability is for any non-Mexico residents and thus mandatory. Total cost should be around $25/day + gas.

Question

What does "Beach Formal" mean?

Answer

Dress to impress, but also dress for the elements (sun, sand, and water). We're thinking summer suits (neckware optional) and sundresses!

Question

What about the whales?

Answer

They are awesome, and can be seen almost daily from early December into March. They breach and leap and swim on by. They are huge and gorgeous and you can hardly believe they are really there. We can’t guarantee you will see them, but we do suggest that spending time gazing at the horizon is a perfect way of passing time here, and you most likely will end up with whale sightings as a bonus. RP can arrange a panga for whale watching on a calm day.
