Jess and her good friend, Liz, were looking for a new softball team to join. They'd planned on a Thursday night league, but by the time Liz went to register, all the teams were full. Oh no! The only night left was Friday night and Jess was not excited to give up a prime weekend night but couldn’t fathom going a season without playing softball. Little did they know, but the co-captain of the team they’d be joining was Rob. On the field, Jess and Rob were both instantly impressed with each other’s softball skills – Rob ripping the ball to right field and Jess snagging some close plays at first. At the after-game bar, they instantly connected over flip cup and the flirtation began. A couple days later, Rob reached out over Facebook and asked Jess out on an axe throwing date. She was so in! However, they quickly learned that finding a time they were both free was quite challenging. As their friends and family know, they’re both big planners – the couple would eventually learn that they’d finally found this elusive and attractive quality in each other. Over the next several months, they invited each other to plans they’d already made with friends and family, so they could see each other. In fact, Rob didn’t skip a beat in accepting Jess’ invitation to join her at her friends’ wedding that took place during the 2016 Cubs playoffs. (She would later learn what a big deal that was.) From that point on, their smitten excitement with one another turned into a love that continues to grow by the day.
