The National Mall is a three-minute car ride across the bridge from Arlington's Rosslyn neighborhood. You can also hop on the Metro in Rosslyn and take the blue line to the Le'Enfant Plaza stop. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes because there's a lot to check out within walking distance from the monuments, including the Capitol, the White House and a handful of Smithsonian museums.
Our favorite Smithsonian museum! Take the blue line to Federal Triangle for access to the Museum of Natural History and other Smithsonian museums. Did we mention, they're FREE!?
Another gem that does not charge admission! Take the blue line to Metro Center, then transfer to the red line toward Shady Grove and get off at the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan stop. Come for the adorable giant pandas, stay for the really cool bars and restaurants in Adams Morgan!
A massive gallery, which is also home to the American Portrait Gallery and near historical spots, including Ford's Theater. It's located in DC's Chinatown neighborhood, so there's no shortage of great lunch spots! Just take the blue line and get off at Metro Center.
Georgetown is a vibrant neighborhood, with some of the best shopping and cuisine DC has to offer. There are no Metro stops in Georgetown, but it's just a short car ride over the Key Bridge.
