Not great! Please have maps pre-loaded before you start your drive to Paonia, and a screenshot of important details. Reception is spotty at best. There is wifi at Big B's, and reception (depending on the carrier) in the town of Paonia. Note: AT&T Seems to have better service in the Valley.
Hot with a possibility of monsoons. Dress for heat (casual is fine!) and a sun hat and/or parasol for the ceremony is encouraged. Prepare for short & heavy rainstorms in the afternoons- unlikely but possible. You will want a light jacket for the evenings- fun festive wear for Saturday night is welcome! Bring sunscreen, a hat & bug spray for possible mosquitoes. This is a 100% outdoor event, we will be providing large tents for shade/rain.
YES! Big B's has a store and cafe. Store hours: Fri-Sat 9am-10pm, Sun-Thurs 10am-8pm. Cafe Hours: Fri-Sat 11am-9pm, Sun-Thurs 11am-8pm
Yes! We have a large section of Big B's reserved for our guests to camp. There is plenty of space for tents, a good amount of space for vans and small campers, and if you bring an RV you can park a short walk away in the outer field. There are 5 glamping tents we have reserved, please reach out if you are interested.
We have some gear people can borrow (get in touch, first come first serve), or ask a friend who is driving to Colorado! Also, REI has a great rental program! There are several REI locations: Denver, Glenwood Springs, and Grand Junction. Call the one closest to your route. Or get in touch about a glamping tent (limited availability)
We have a section of the campgrounds reserved for Friday and Saturday nights for our guests (you will claim your spot via the RSVP, see 'venue' for price guide). If you would like to stay in town longer (Thursday or Sunday/Monday) please reserve your accommodation accordingly. There will be small events on Sunday and Monday, and we can always use a hand with set up on Friday. Big Bs always has lots of camping sites- you can reserve extra nights in advance or when you are there. https://www.bigbs.com/visit
Yup! There are lots of options for staying off-site. Please see the 'travel' section. We will hopefully have a shuttle running on Saturday so no one drives under the influence. Note: the shuttle will only pick up/drop off along Grand Ave of Paonia (will not drive to specific airB&Bs/ destinations)
Yes! There will be a shuttle on Friday night, and we are working on a shuttle for Saturday night as well. The shuttle pick-up/drop-off is only to Grand Ave. in Paonia and will not take guests to specific destinations. (if you are staying in the town of Paonia, Grand Ave is walkable from anywhere in town)
I would not rely on it! We live in a very rural area where there are very few transportation options. Sunshine Rides might be your best option (reserve in advance) https://www.sunshinerides.com/ The venue is a short drive from the town of Paonia and there is no option to walk there. You will need a car, or utilize the shuttles to get to the venue. PS- Once you are in the town of Paonia, there are many eateries and grocery stores within walking distance.
Yes and no... Yes: Big B's is great for kids during the day! Peach picking, lots of room to roam, swings & activities No: we are planning on having an adult-style party Saturday night, it might get a little wild! Tuck the kids in and let your hair down.
Well-behaved dogs are allowed. Please keep your dog under control in the campgrounds and on a leash (or away) during the ceremony. There is a pond so be warned your dog might be a wet mess most of the weekend, don't let it splash the bride! A $100 pet deposit must be paid to Big B's if you are staying in a glamping tent.
There are 2 ponds- a small one at our ceremony site and a larger one that is fun to SUP (a short walk/drive on the other side of the venue). The water is not crystal clear, but you or your kids may be tempted to splash around & cool off. Foaties of all types are welcome for after the 3pm Saturday ceremony! (bring a baiting suit!)
Our official RSVP has a section to let us know how you plan to stay with us for the weekend. We have reserved a big section of the orchard for people who would like to camp, or park a van or smaller RV! There is lots of room (~25 tents, 5 Glamping Tents, and room for about ~20-30 'vans'). If you have a larger RV, Big B's has asked that you park in the lower field. • Cost? We are requesting that people pitch in for the camping fee Big Bs charges us, to help us focus on the fun stuff: food and entertainment for guests! The costs for camping/glamping, and Vans/RV's can also be found on the VENUE page and will be paid after you RSVP. If you are staying off-site, no worries there!
Yes! Sort of. If your campsite has a fire ring, feel free to use it. If you must have fire by your site, plan to camp next to a fire ring. There are also group campfire sites, and we plan to have wood delivered for the wedding weekend. If you want your own private stash of wood, you can also purchase at the store.
YES! There are two paid showers by the outdoor bathrooms (behind the Big B's main stage). 24 hour access. Quarters are required, it is $2 minimum. Change can be obtained at the store. Store opens late on Sunday, so Josh and Luana will have some quarters available.
There is a "dish station" next to the showers (behind the Big B's main stage). 24 hr access, free.
YES! There are 2 potable water stations. One near the portas by our wedding area, one by the bathrooms by the main stage. Big B's also sells a variety of drinks, and we will be providing many drink options as well.
