Check out this 3.0-mile out-and-back trail near La Mesa, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 49 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.

For a change of pace, take a 1 hour drive to the mountains and have some famous Julian Apple Pie. The small town a Julian has a beautiful drive if you're looking for a change of scenery!
Bring your passport! Take the San Diego Trolley ($2.50/person) to San Ysidro, CA. about a 50 minute trolley ride. Or you can drive to the border (30 minute drive and park on USA side). Then walk across the border (5 min walk), very easy!. Then when you are in Tijuana, take an Uber to your destination. check out the tacos, the Caesar's Restaurant that created the original first caesar salad!
