Things To Do

We're making a list of our favorite activities, restaurants, and sites to see in the Albuquerque area.

Balloon Fiesta Park

Albuquerque, NM 87121

Balloon Fiesta begins the day of our wedding but don't let that stop you from enjoying the magic. Whether you decide to go on your own Saturday or with Josh and Meg on Sunday, we want to make sure you're prepared. For our out of town guests, be aware that parking can be a nightmare. The city of Albuquerque does their best to make this easier on folks by providing a park-and-ride service. Throughout the city you can choose a spot closest to you to park your car and ride a bus to the park and back for a small fee. In years past Josh and Meg ride their bikes to the park and use the free bike valet on site. You can also drive your own car and pay $20 in a lot closest to the park. We recommend arriving between 5:00am-5:30am before the drone show or dawn patrol begin. Really, the earlier the better to skip the crowds. Most people show up at 6:30am before the balloons launch at 7:00am. Give yourself time to walk around the park, grab a burrito and some hot chocolate.

ABQ BioPark Zoo

903 10th Street Southwest, Albuquerque, NM 87102

Enjoy the ABQ Bio Park Zoo, Aquarium, and Botanical Gardens. Great place for kids, just wear your walking shoes!

Old Town Plaza

200 North Plaza Street Northwest, Albuquerque, NM 87104

For the best shopping and southwestern experience, check out Old Town Plaza right by our wedding venue! There are museums, shops, beer and wine, food and ice cream!

Sawmill Market

1909 Bellamah Avenue Northwest, Albuquerque, NM 87104

The best place to try a little bit of everything. Food court style eatery near Old Town ABQ with some of the best eats.

Sandia Peak Tramway

30 Tramway Road Northeast, Albuquerque, NM 87122

For the best view of the city, take the Sandia Tram to the top of Sandia Peak.

Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm

4803 Rio Grande Boulevard Northwest, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM 87107

Los Poblanos is Meg's favorite spot in Albuquerque. It's a historic Inn and Farm in Los Poblanos, right by the Bosque. Walking the grounds is special any time of the year but especially in the fall. You might even be lucky enough to spot the owner's orange tabby Mouse. Check out the farm shop, the Hacienda Spa, and grab brunch or dinner at Campo restaurant.

Casa Rondeña Winery

733 Chavez Road, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM 87107

Our favorite winery to hang out at and enjoy wine and beautiful Los Ranchos is Casa Rondena.

El Patio Rio

3851 Rio Grande Boulevard Northwest, Albuquerque, NM 87107

El Patio is a hidden treasure in Albuquerque and Josh and Meg's favorite New Mexican restaurant. Beware their green chili chicken enchiladas unless you love heat. We love to sit on the patio and drink a house margarita. Josh's favorite meal is green chili stew and Meg's favorite is red chili carne adovada.

Albuquerque Museum

2000 Mountain Road Northwest, Albuquerque, NM 87104

The best museum in Albuquerque to discover art, culture and history. Less than a 5 minute walk from our wedding venue.

Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque

1701 Mountain Road Northwest, Albuquerque, NM 87104

The best interactive museum for families with kids any age. If they love art, music, science, math and engineering take them to Explora!

Rail Yards Market

777 1st Street Southwest, Albuquerque, NM 87102

Every Sunday you can head to the Railyards to find local vendors selling food and drink, handmade gifts, fresh baked goods, and fresh produce.

Petroglyph National Monument

Western Trail Northwest, Albuquerque, NM 87120

For a nice hike and great view of the Sandia Mountains, check out Petroglyph National Monument.

Farina Alto Pizzeria & Wine Bar

10721 Montgomery Boulevard Northeast, Albuquerque, NM 87111

Farina Alto is our favorite Italian restaurant to go to for their good food and drinks, and nice atmosphere. There is also their original restaurant in Downtown called Farina.

Little Anita's New Mexican Food

2105 Mountain Road Northwest, Albuquerque, NM 87104

For some of the best New Mexican food in Old Town ABQ. Meg's favorite dish is the Carne Adovada (for those who like SPICE).
