Travel Note
Boise Downtown is small within the greater metropolitan area, and the capital city of the State of Idaho. It sits on the central-eastern side of the Treasure Valley in between the Owyhee and Sawtooth Mountain Ranges. Flying is the easiest way to access Boise from out of state/country. If travelling by car, no matter which direction you are coming from, there are a few mountain passes and a lot of 1 lane winding roads. It is a long drive through high desert from any direction. The shortest drive from another major international airport is either Seattle to the West or Salt Lake City to the South.
Travel Note
Here is a Google Map that will hopefully help you decide where to stay when looking for accommodation. Avoid the red areas, trust me, it is mostly student housing, too far away, or under construction. At the end of the day, do what works best for you. :)

Hotel
An iconic hotel just outside of downtown in our sister city, Garden City. It is a short 5-10 min drive from downtown. This place sits right on the green belt with access to the river and some great wineries/tasting rooms. Just a short bike ride gets you to Quinn's Pond which is our local man-made swimming hole perfect for a "beach day". It is also home to The Sapphire Room which is so fun for a romantic dinner and show with fun local musicians playing all summer long.
