Wes & Sheridan matched on Hinge back in April of 2020 (yep, 2020...), when lockdowns were heightening and social distancing was becoming the norm. Then, after being let go from her job, Sheridan decided to go down to her parents and consequently delete the app. Prior to that, she messaged a few of her "matches" with her phone number if they wanted to continue the conversation. Alas, feeling the guilt of not wanting to be "that guy," Wes texted Sheridan later that evening. After texting every day for 6 weeks (call it modern day love notes), Wes & Sheridan finally met in person for their "first date," which included Wes coming over to Sheridan's apartment for perhaps too many margaritas - if there is such a thing. The next few months of courtship, which would typically be filled with dinner dates, sports games, and meeting of friends included mainly swapping whose apartment to go to & which Netflix show to catch up on. But in the end, truly allowed them to get to know one another without a world of distractions in their way. Fast forward three(ish) years, they recently bought their first house in Richmond, VA where they now live with their two dogs, Kona & Lola.
This one really depends on who you ask. For Sheridan, after a busy week of work & putting an offer down on their new house, all she wanted to do was spend her Friday evening at home with the dogs & a bowl of Chipotle, catching up on the latest Bravo show (that doesn't sound too bad, right?!) However, Wes insisted *several* times that she HAD to attend this dinner party, given they were moving away in a few weeks. So her introverted self begrudgingly got dressed & got a Lyft into DC. After some miscommunication and perhaps a bit of misunderstanding on her part, she could not find the location of this dinner party - which resulted in her being about 2 minutes from calling a car back home and “required” Wes to come down and find her (not her finest hour, by any means!) As she climbed the winding staircase to the rooftop, she noticed that despite being 15 minutes late, there wasn’t a lot of noise of anyone else there and her stomach immediately dropped. As she approached the final step, she found the rooftop covered in rose petals & a video camera recording it all. It was then, despite having almost ruined her own engagement, Wes still found it within himself to propose to Sheridan, which was followed by lots of champagne, photos, and calls to their families to tell them the news. Little did she know, that wasn't the final surprise of the weekend. The next day, planning to meet Wes’s mom for an early Mother's Day celebration, they were instead joined by their entire family and closest friends for a surprise engagement party. It truly meant the world to them to be surrounded by their loved ones during such a special time and to kick off the celebration of their new forever.
