It was my last day in Hawai'i and I had the whole day to kill until my overnight flight! What else do you do in Hawai'i? I went surfing with some friends in Waikiki, having the time of our lives, catching every wave we could that rolled in. They drifted off somewhere in the open water and I rode a wave in, paddling back towards the wave pool, realizing that I would be separated from the rest of my group. Naturally, us southern people tend to be social butterflies and when I was sitting on my board waiting for a wave to come in, a big group of guys paddled up looking all buff and handsome. I mean studs! From there, Jonny and I hit it off, talking about where we were from, realizing we were only an hour and a half apart from our hometowns. Hallmark movie in the making, am I right? We had so much in common- our love for the Lord, being outdoors, and overall outlook on life like our value for family as both of our sides are huge! I left the beach that day with his number, but I didn't think anything of it until I landed in Colorado and Jonny was the first person to message me asking if I got there okay. I was still thinking that would be it and that he was just trying to be nice. Sure enough, I landed in Raleigh and he was once again the first person to reach out, asking how I was, telling me I looked beautiful. I mean, right?!? He had been on duty for the entire night, so it said a lot that he waited for me to land before he went to sleep for the next few hours. How sweet was that?! From there it just progressed! Texts turned into phone calls, which turned into facetime chats that would last hours at a time, and eventually, us planning trips to see one another. After that, our love for each other grew deeper and stronger as we were experiencing so much together, all up until the moment he chose to get down on one knee, asking to spend forever together as husband and wife. We haven't looked back since!
