Day Trip to Mont Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo (Journée Mont Saint-Michel et Saint-Malo)

Casual Attire: Anything goes, from sundresses and sandals to jeans and tees. Wear comfortable walking shoes!
Wake up early and join us for a memorable day trip to two of the region’s most iconic destinations: Mont Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo. We will depart from Clohars-Carnoët at 6:30am and caravan (drive or find someone to carpool with!) to the parking lot at Mont Saint-Michel. From there, we will walk 30-minutes to the base of the Monastery. At Mont Saint-Michel, we will explore the medieval abbey, wander cobbled streets, and enjoy panoramic views from this UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of the most beautiful places in all of France! Following our time in MSM, we will ride the free bus back to the parking lot and head to Saint-Malo. In Saint-Malo, we will stroll the ramparts, visit the historic center, browse local shops, and enjoy a self-prepared picnic by the harbor. Meals, transportation, parking, and entrance fees at guests’ expense. -- Départ 6h30 Clohars-Carnoët. Visite Mont Saint-Michel (UNESCO) et Saint-Malo. Covoiturage. Pique-nique.

A Day at Concarneau and Pont-Aven

For those who want to enjoy a leisurely day on your own, visiting Concarneau and Pont-Aven is a wonderful way to spend the day. Concarneau, a walled seaside town, is about 30 minutes from our home and full of history and coastal charm. Walk its 14th-century ramparts, watch the fishing boats in the harbor, browse the market, or stroll along the marina to sandy Sables Blancs beach. From there, it is a short 15 minute drive to Pont-Aven, once home to a vibrant 19th-century artists’ colony. The River Aven winds through the town, dotted with old mills and lined with galleries that keep its creative spirit alive. Together, these towns offer a mix of history, seaside beauty, and art, making for an easygoing way to spend the day at your own pace.
Spearfishing with Jonathan

Snorkeling Attire: Wear a bathing suit, mask, snorkel, and wetsuit if you have one! Katie says "the water is freezing for East Coast swimmers."
Atlantic coast adventurers! It is possible to enjoy the morning at Concarneau and Pont-Aven AND join Jonathan for harpoon-free spearfishing at a popular dive site in Clohars-Carnoët. The start time for spearfishing could shift and is dependent on the tide schedule, coefficient of tide, and weather. If you don't want to fish/snorkle, the activities promise great people-watching, and the coast is nice to stroll along. PS: The more people "fishing" (even for a moment) means we can catch more spider crabs to prepare for the weekend. The limit is 6 crabs per person.

Beach Formal: Elegant yet relaxed. For Him: Lightweight suit, dress pants/button-down, or linen blazer/loafers. For Her: Breezy cocktail/maxi dress, or chic jumpsuit. Avoid thin heels on grass/sand. Consider a light fabric as it’s summer and Bretagne, and air conditioning is not widely available. Élégant et décontracté. Hommes: Costume léger, ou veste lin. Femmes: Robe cocktail, ou combinaison chic. Talons fins déconseillés (sable).
We are still finalizing the details of our Vow Renewal, but we plan to celebrate our marriage and renew our vows with our friends and family from both France and the United States. -- Nous finalisons les détails de notre renouvellement de vœux. You may also choose a breezy cocktail dress, a maxi dress, or a chic jumpsuit with dressy sandals or wedges (heels are not recommended on grass or sand). Light fabrics, soft colors, and summer styles are perfect for celebrating by the sea.
