It all started with a little Trivia…

Who’s smarter? You or your significant other? I bet if you challenged each other each of you would say something different. Or would it depend on the subject? For us, our love story started online in a game called “Trivia Crack”. Yes, we know, how cliche. But wait! We look at it like we were fatefully brought together by the luck of the draw! Literally. Our random match, in this online game was definitely a “match made in heaven”, it allowed for us to heckle each other and brag to each other about our own vast knowledge of the most insignificant information on the planet! Yes! Truly! Because who really needs to know what year Babe Ruth won the World Series? Really? Our competitive natures urged us to play regularly. And that mystery competitor would often come back for more and beg for a rematch. Then one day, Jennifer changed her picture from one of the Trivia Crack icons to a, half, overexposed, blurry picture of her face. And, of course, the other mystery competitor had to change their picture too! Tit for tat, as they say. And this picture was of them playing softball, swinging a bat and looking so very cool. (Obviously strategic) So now we were in business! Each of us knowing we were of the opposite sex, and each of us knowing what each other looked like. So we began to chat through the game. Over time our gaming banter became more and more personal and we ended up exchanging numbers. Months went by and we finally met in person. And as they say, the rest is history! A lot of barriers stood in our way. Such as Jonathan relocating from Illinois to Michigan, starting a new company, and navigating a new family dynamic. For Jennifer, it was about graduating with her Second Masters, finalizing her divorce (she was already legally separated! How dare you think what you were thinking! lol!) and moving into a new home to help her mother financially and mentally. As time went on, our family grew by two. Jonathan adopted Leelu and we eventually ended up buying a house in Battle Creek. This is where Jennifer was working at the time and we both felt BC had a good fit for the education we wanted for our children. As we grew in love, we also grew in faith. We searched for a church to call our own and after a year of searching we finally found it at Saint Mark. It became apparent to us that we needed to set an example for our children on how important it was for us to be married in a church in front of God and that although we have struggled with our faith we cannot deny God has been there all along, guiding us, and showing us the way. Who knows, maybe it was HIS plan all along for one of us NOT to know What year Babe Ruth won the World Series…
