You can walk with your bags to this hotel from the train station. This is also where we will be staying. You could fly into Paris enjoy a day or two there and then take a low-cost flight from Paris to Barcelona for the wedding weekend via Ryan Air, Vueling, or Easyjet. Flights from Sept 16 returning Sept 25 are priced at $374.
Travel Note
By Renfe Train is the best way. It only costs €4.20 per person, takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes or less and avoids Barcelona's terrible traffic. Take the Renfe R2 Nord train directly from Terminal 2 of El Prat Airport to central Barcelona, then change trains at Barcelona Sants station. Displays might show BARNA SANTS. It's the abbreviation. From Barcelona Sants, take the R1 train heading towards Mataró or Maçanet-Massanes. Then make sure to get off at the Mataró station. Norwegian Air arrives at Terminal 2. Most other airlines arrive at Terminal 1 (take the shuttle bus to Terminal 2 prior to connecting to train). When you change trains at Barcelona Sants for R1, you will switch to track 7 or 8 (via 7 or via 8). Again, look for the R1 train heading towards Mataró or Maçanet-Massanes.

Uber and Lyft do not currently work in Barcelona. However, MyTaxi is an app that connects you to taxis in the same way as Flywheel in the US. You can hail a taxi and pay by credit card all through the app. It works pretty well in Barcelona. It does not work well in Mataró. Download it before you land in Barcelona. The Barcelona Metro system is an efficient way to travel to all the major sights in Barcelona. It is a separate network from the Renfe Rodalies network. Of course, Google Maps will help you with the correct lines to take. You might want to buy a 10 ride ticket to save money and avoid constantly purchasing tickets. At the El Prat Airport, there is free WiFi. However, I recommend getting a local SIM card as soon as you can. Spain has good and cheap data service through most local mobile phone carriers. Find a ubiquitous Vodafone or Orange mobile store and buy a SIM card. In Barcelona, they all speak English and they sell many of these to tourists. For €10, you get 1.5 GB of data, text and limited talk time. That is plenty for 2 weeks of Google Map use. Plus there are lots of free WiFI in cafés. En el aeropuerto de El Prat, hay WiFi gratis. You do not really need much in the way of Euros. You can buy train and metro tickets with a credit card. Taxis also take credit cards. I recommend going to an ATM and pulling out only about €50. Make sure to notify your bank and credit cards that you will be traveling internationally. This should be sufficient to cover small things: bus fare, food vendors on the street, coffee shops, etc. Also, when you buy things with your credit card, the point of sale machines will ask if you want to pay in Euros or USD. Always make sure to pay in Euros and not in USD. The point of sale machines will use their own exchange rate which is worse than the daily rate that your credit card will charge you.
