It all started with a swipe.
Meri thought she was trying to find a good distraction during finals, but little did she know that she would find a scientist who is "great at bad celebrity impressions" and that they would fall in love.
Our first date started off like any other. However, it very quickly turned into a conversation about science and research. John was impressed with all of Meri's accomplishments, and Meri was shocked by his never ending knowledge. John decided that the date was going so well that he asked Meri if she wanted to see all of the microscopes at his lab. Surprisingly, she said yes. (it was 7 floors of microscopes)
After 3 dates, Meri went home to Long Island for a month, but they talked every day. From then, they were inseparable. He’d be in lab doing his experiments and Meri would come to lab and sit and study or do her nails.
After 5.5 years, and long distance, John, with tears in his eyes, asked Meri to marry him, and without hesitation, she said yes.
