First run in 1905, the Dipsea is the oldest trail race in America. It's a 7.4 mile course from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach and is considered to be one of the most beautiful courses in the world. The stairs and steep trails make it a grueling and treacherous race, but in my opinion, it's way more fun to hike! The stairs start just minutes away from the Mill Valley Inn and Old Mill Park (where the ceremony is). Keep in mind that if you hike out to Stinson Beach, Uber doesn't exist, so you'll have to hike another 7.4 miles back. We'd recommend going as far as you feel comfortable and turning back. If the weather behaves, you'll get amazing mountain and ocean views.
Some of our favorite restaurants in Mill Valley: Equator Coffee, Bungalow 44, Mamahuhu, D'Angelo's, Robata Sushi, Hook Fish Co, The Junction, Cafe del Soul, Thep Lela Thai, Grilly's (casual spot for Mexican food)
Where we got engaged! There are a million and one hiking options from this trailhead that aren't labeled on the internet. The good news is you really can't go wrong- just pick a direction and go. Although we would suggest taking the first right, then the second right for 360 views of the bay, SF, the pacific ocean, and Mt. Tam.
For those who have an extra day or two, consider a quick drive across the Golden Gate Bridge to explore San Francisco. If you're into museums, consider checking out the Cal Academy of Sciences or Legion of Honor. Golden Gate Park is also a beautiful destination, and we'd recommend the Japanese Tea Garden for the tea lovers. Some of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco: Burma Love, Souvla, Nob Hill Cafe, Zazie, Nopa, Woods Beer & Wine Co, Yo Tambien Cantina. If you're into beer, check out Southern Pacific Brewing Co in the Mission or Biergarten in Hayes Valley.
