Anne Springs Close Greenway - Lake Haigler
We go here as often as we can! The kids and dogs run wild (although when people are around dogs need to be leashed). There are many hiking trails, horseback riding trails, barns and old log cabins to explore. There is also a cantina with food and drink available for your trip. The Greenway has several entrances. This entrance happens to be closest to our house, but you can't go wrong with any of them!
Riverwalk Parkway
Another great hiking place! This is the scene for all of our family photos you see on this website (shout out to my cousin Shannon for being the most fabulous photographer). You can also kayak here and there are several wine or craft beer spots at the entrance. And the girls hate going here because this is where we go for 'the parent' talks :).
Carowinds
For super fun roller coasters, this is your spot! We're fortunate to live 2 minutes away from one of the best amusement parks around. If you go, you must ride Fury! You literally feel like you are flying! We rarely get to ride the coasters and spend most of our time in Camp Snoopy with Coleman, but Morgan has become quite the adventurer with roller coasters she's able to ride.
Whitewater Center
Charlotte is lucky to be home of the US National Whitewater Center. There is so much to do here - whitewater rafting, ziplines, rock climbing, hikes, music, drinks and more. It's always a great time!
Kingsley Town Center
If you're looking for a great spot to eat, we recommend Kinsgley. There are many great restaurants here. Our favorites are Taco Melino, Spice and Napa. This is also where the Courtyard Marriott is located.
Charlotte
There are also a number of things to do in Charlotte if you want to venture ~20 minutes away. Southpark, Ballantyne, Southend, Uptown and NODA are the areas we'd recommend. Each of those areas is different with unique atmospheres based on what you want to do. Let us know if you are looking for more specific recommendations in Charlotte and we can definitely help you!
