From there, John began his strategic campaign of “totally legitimate” Slack messages—usually disguised as work questions. Carlie remains skeptical to this day about whether he actually needed help or was just looking for an excuse to chat. (Spoiler: it was definitely the latter.) After months of witty office banter and "urgent" Slack conversations, John finally worked up the courage (after about 6 months of what some might call “light flirting”) to ask Carlie out. His big move? An invite to join him and his friends at Corner Bistro. Carlie politely declined. Most people might’ve stopped there—but John is not most people. Undeterred, he regrouped and came back with an offer she couldn’t refuse: NY Rangers hockey tickets. Carlie agreed, and the first official date was on. Now, John swears they ended up on the “kiss cam,” and that Carlie didn't kiss him. Carlie maintains it was not the kiss cam—just a regular camera—and therefore, no kiss was required.
