Our venue is in the middle of a 720-acre park in the heart of the Redwood forest. There are miles and miles of hiking or biking trails of varying intensity available. Board and card games will be available. There are basketball hoops, and space to throw a ball or frisbee around. A large beaver pond, river otters, deer, fox, and other natural amenities complete the enchantment of the Mendocino Woodlands.
Gorgeous gardens, trails, views of the coast, a small family cemetery, working vegetable gardens, and a small gift shop. If you want to explore the coast, we recommend starting here before the crowds show up, since tickets are limited (but can be purchased ahead of time).
John and I saw harbor seals playing and sunning in the water when we visited the lighthouse. The trails are leisurely and the view is gorgeous. Point Cabrillo is one of the first sightseeing points when you get to Highway 1 after leaving the campsite.
This is a campground 15 minutes from the venue sight, right off Highway 1. There are plenty of hiking trails, a waterfall, and a beautiful beach. This also a great place to stay if you choose to come up early or stay in the area after the wedding. It’s right on the coast, so pack accordingly if you choose to stay here.
This is about an hour from our venue. It's a day use campground with a couple of hiking trails and some beautiful redwoods. We recommend visiting it on your way to or from the venue as a place to stretch your legs and maybe have a small picnic.
The historic Skunk Train travels through old-growth redwood groves, over scenic trestle bridges, through spectacular tunnels, and into the heart of the Noyo River canyon. There are different train tours available, trianbike options, or a guided hike to choose from.
