FAQs

Question

What if I can't make it until Saturday?

Answer

That is completely fine! The ceremony won't be until late afternoon, so as long as you show up before then, you're good to go. Keep in mind that if you're coming from Reno, it is a six hour drive, plus you'll want some time to get freshened up after your travels, so we suggest leaving early on Saturday morning.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Our venue has a small capacity but we did our best to consider if each of our guests will have someone they'll know and enjoy spending time with. When you RSVP you will see if there are any additional guests included with your invite.

Question

May I bring my kids? What about my dog?

Answer

Due to capacity restrictions, we were unable to invite anybody's children. As for fur babies, our venue has emphasized the point that no pets of any type are allowed. Trust us, if we could bring our cats, we would.

Question

What should I bring?

Answer

Bring anything that makes you comfortable and happy. Bring all the things you would normally take camping, except cooking supplies or tent. There are flush toilets and a shower house, so pack whatever toiletries you want. The shower house has electricity, but the washrooms don’t, so a flashlight, lantern, or headlamp is a great idea. There is a shallow creek on-site, so bring some water shoes and a swimsuit if you want. Hiking shoes or a bike, if you’re into either of those things. As far as food and alcohol goes, we will do our best to make sure you don’t have to worry about feeding yourself and we will have drinks available for the reception and after-party, but it’s never a bad idea to bring extra of whatever you like most, especially since this is a three-day/two-night affair. You can store any personal food or drinks in the dining hall kitchen.

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

This depends on where you're coming from. Google or Apple maps will get you there. The address is: 39350 Little Lake Road Mendocino, CA 95640 Get to Highway 1 however suits you best. If you are traveling from the north (so Seattle or Portland or probably Reno), turn left/east/inland onto Caspar Little Lake Road. After about 15 minutes you'll come to a fork in the road. Go left. If you are traveling from the south (so Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, or Santa Rosa), turn right/east/inland onto Little Lake Road. When you come to the fork in the road, go straight ahead. When you reach the campground you will see the camp offices. Turn left as if you were going to park there. But don't. Just keep going. And going. You'll pass cabins and a large pond. It's beautiful. Enjoy it. But keep going. After about 10 minutes or so, you'll reach Camp 3 (Camp 3 comes after Camp 1 but before Camp 2...obviously). There! You did it! You made it to our party! We suggest carpooling to help save on gas and to share driving duties. Check-in time is 2:00 pm. See the next question for more information about that.

Question

What if I'm early? What if I wan't to do my traveling on Thursday instead of Friday?

Answer

We are not allowed on site until 2:00 pm. If you are just a little bit early, there is a day-use area just past the camp offices. If you are a few hours early or you choose to get to the area on Thursday, there is lots to do. Mendocino is CHARMING. Russian Gulch State Park is across Highway 1 on Caspar Little Lake Road. Fort Bragg has the classic seaside town shops and lots of neat beach stuff to do. https://www.visitmendocino.com/ https://visitfortbraggca.com/

Question

Is there a dresscode?

Answer

For the ceremony itself dress like you are going to a fancy, glamorous party hosted by Morticia Adams and Tim Burton. Otherwise, wear what makes you feel your sexiest, but comfortable. Beyond the ceremony and the reception, wear whatever you like. But please wear something.

Question

Will the ceremony/reception be held indoors or out?

Answer

It will be outside, although there is a dining hall we’ll be incorporating.

Question

What's the bar situation? Do I need to bring cash?

Answer

The bar will be self-serve. No bartender=no one to tip. Donations for the Mendocino Woodlands Camp Association are a fantastic way to support our venue to continue to offer environmental education to kids.

Question

Will there be special dietary food options?

Answer

When you RSVP, there will be a chance to let us know about any dietary restrictions you may have.

Question

What’s the bathroom situation? In fact, are there any amenities or creature comforts? How rugged am I going to have to be?

Answer

Think of summer camp. There are tents with room for four, cots included. The tents have no electricity and no food or candles are allowed in the tents. Battery powered fairy lights work wonders though, and headlamps are great. There are washrooms tucked into clusters of tents. Flush toilets and running water! 🤩 However, there is no electricity in the washrooms, so no lights (bring a lantern or headlamp). There is one shower building with multiple single showers as well as a larger, locker room-style shower. Electricity is available in the shower building as well as the dining hall. There is space to store food in the dining hall kitchen and a fridge and a freezer in the hall itself you’re welcome to utilize.

Question

Can I bring my travel trailer/rv/5th wheel?

Answer

Yes. There is plenty of parking and we could easily accommodate a few rigs, BUT no generator use is allowed on site, so keep that in mind.

Question

Okay, so this is a full weekend. How can I expect to spend my time before we get down to business?

Answer

We expect most people will want to travel on Friday to avoid travel fatigue on the day of the wedding, so Friday night will be a more traditional camp experience. Once you get yourself “checked in” you can help yourself to some food, play some traditional camping games like frisbee, horseshoes, etc, mingle and generally get settled in. As soon as it’s dark enough, we’ll light up the fire pit and start up some movies on a projector. Popcorn and s’mores will accompany, of course. Saturday morning there will be a brunch buffet available most of the morning with the chance to build yourself a sandwich for lunch. Feel free to hang around camp relaxing or playing games or go explore some of the trails in the area. You can also leave the campground to see the ocean, visit the botanical gardens, or check out the nearby towns of Mendocino or Fort Bragg. Just make sure you give yourself enough time to get back and get cleaned up before the ceremony starts! Then the ceremony, followed by food, bands, fun, and another fire! On Sunday, we need to be out of camp by 10:00 am, so pack up your stuff and grab some food on your way out. Go home and sleep or stay in the area and enjoy the beauty of the Northern California coast. Either way, we hope you’ll have enjoyed the weekend with us. ❤️

Question

This sounds pretty awesome but I’m concerned about what this is going to cost me.

Answer

We get it. Money is always tight all the time. Can’t afford the gas? See if you can carpool with someone. Worried about the cost of takeout? Don’t. We will provide you with all the meals you’ll need and we expect leftovers to take home with you. Worried about your outfit? It’s fun to dress up, but we’re way happier to have your company in a burlap sack than miss the special flavor you bring to the party. Definitely don’t have the budget for a gift? Since gifts are NOT the point, we don’t care. Gifts are sweet and thoughtful, but so are hugs, selfies, and spending time together. Don’t have camping supplies? Ask around to borrow a sleeping bag or just bring a bunch of blankets. If you’re phone has a flashlight on it, then boom! You’re good to go, baby!

Question

Is there anyway I can help out?

Answer

Yes! Thank you! We have a FB group to help everyone coordinate rides, share supplies for the wedding and with each other. You should have gotten an invite shortly after you RSVP’d, but if not, hit up anyone from the wedding party for access. https://fb.me/g/p_trt5zaMc5Ga5no4H/MKFeXa90

Question

Do you have a wedding hashtag?

Answer

Yes! #underwoodsunderstars

Question

Do you have a hotel block?

Answer

No, because there are tents on site for guests to stay in. However, both Fort Bragg and Mendocino are chock full of hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, and Airbnb. There's also tons of camping in the area, although we will be super confused if you choose to camp anywhere besides our venue.

Question

Will I have cell service?

Answer

No, sorry. Hopefully you'll enjoy yourself enough that you won't miss it.
