Kent and Jocelyn initially met during their time in chiropractic school although they went to schools across the country from each other. Jocelyn attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA and Kent went to school at Life University in Marietta, GA. Kent and Jocelyn were part of a mentorship within chiropractic called AMPED and lead AMPED clubs at their respective schools. They met face to face for the first time at a conference in Atlanta during January of 2017. Their friendship grew when Jocelyn moved to Auburn, AL for her pre-graduation preceptorship at Cornerstone Family Chiropractic. During her time in Auburn the office put on a large community event which Jocelyn reached out to Kent for help recruiting students to volunteer to work at the event. With constant communication about the event Jocelyn and Kent became closer friends. Jocelyn graduated from chiropractic school in October of 2017 and moved to Nashville, TN to open up her own chiropractic office. Kent and Jocelyn's friendship grew as she would reach out to him to help work through the struggles and challenges she faced opening a new business, in a new city, with no friends and minimal family in the area. In December of 2017 Kent and his long term girlfriend broke up and Jocelyn (a veteran of break ups and the single life) was there to help him work through the break up and get back on his feet. Jocelyn knew how hard these things can be and made sure to text him every day to check in. From there their friendship grew slowly grew into something more. After a long time of prayer and conversation - the two decided to see where things would go.
When Kent and Jocelyn started dating, Jocelyn set a very strong rule. They had to be engaged before he could join in her in the office. She said, "If you don't love me enough to know you're going to marry me by then - you aren't a right fit for my office." With that in mind - Kent moved up to the Nashville area to begin his pre-graduation internship at Stewart Chiropractic on March 22, 2019. With a U-Hal truck and a packed Honda Civic the two moved him up to the Nashville area. On the 23rd - Jocelyn wanted to show Kent the area that she was about to buy her new house and they planned to get breakfast out by the new house. Little did Jocelyn know - when the two returned back to the city - Kent was planning to propose. After breakfast - Jocelyn wanted to continue showing Kent the area so she started to fill the day with plans - seeing the local state park, going to a discounted furniture store, etc. She did everything she could to de-rail the plans she didn't know he had! About 4 hours behind schedule the two finally returned back to the city and in Jocelyn's opinion Kent was being a complete jerk that was on his phone all afternoon and wasn't interested in the area of the new house. Kent suggested that they take the dog to a park that was down the road from her apartment. She reluctantly said yes and they walked to the park. As they got close to the park - the photographer was to the right and Jocelyn took a left (to avoid some dogs because Peeto was not very friendly to other dogs). Kent grabbed the leash - walked the direction they were supposed to go. Despite Jocelyn's best efforts to unknowingly derail everything - the moment finally happened. Kent was able to talk the photographer rearranging his entire day to capture the moment that he went down on one knee and ask the love of his life to marry him. Jocelyn - of course - said yes (after stepping in the way of the photographer getting the perfect shot).
