On some of our days off, we loved to just walk along the water and enjoy the sun and crisp, salty air. For our incoming family, we highly reccomend you go to this beach at least once in your time here. Mr and Mrs Riggs would love to tell you all about it! Be sure to bring sandals and sunscreen with you! :D
Within Gabriel's first year of being here, my parents offered to take us here to have some good brunch and it did not dissappoint! Though pricey, the portion sizes are very much worth it.
Anyone who is anyone in California can vouch for this staple: Toppers Pizza! For our guests coming in to Cali for the first time, you have got to try this place. Being a staple for Gabriel and I's date nights and place of celebration for all times of life, we cannot reccomend this place enough.
The Collection at Riverpark is an outdoor shopping mall situated like a small-town downtown. It is entirely walkable featuring attractions such as theatres, clothing outlets, restaurants, bars, and much more! It is hard to run out of things to do here in a day.
If you need to attend Mass the day after the wedding, we highly recommend Gabriel's home parish of Santa Clara adjacent to downtown Oxnard. It is a breathtakingly beautiful church built in 1903 with a traditional Romanesque interior. Morning Mass is at 10:00 AM!
Here is the site of the original mission built in Ventura County. It was one of the earliest Catholic sites built in Spanish California alongside Los Angeles and San Diego. It allows you to see the history of Ventura County's earliest years under the Spanish with guided video tours by Bishop Robert Barron in the mission museum.
The historic cross situated above the Mission SanBuenaventura by Fr. Junipero Serra in the 1700s. Atop a mountain with views of all of Ventura, Oxnard, Channel Islands Nation Park (and the islands on a clear day), it is a common hiking destination with the option to drive up to the cross if needed.
