We met online through mutual interests on social media in spring of 2017. At the time we were still in high school, balancing classes and social activities. We struck up a connection through our shared love of art and literature. Unknown to us, this was the beginning of being tied at the hip (with a good thousand-mile, digital rope). We officially began dating in January of 2018 and from there all things blossomed. We were the emotional support and late-night discussion partner to one another. We guess you could call us the "high school sweethearts" for the digital age. Despite the distance, we valued the chance to get to know the other through time and talk rather than physical connection. When the pandemic hit we had time to work hard and save money to meet each other. Now that we had both graduated high school we began to make our travel plans. Our first time meeting in person was in August of 2021. In intervals of 3 months, with the money saved from the pandemic years, we would travel back and forth and meet. We felt a calling to be together and no distance could come between us. In October of 2021, we spent Neewollah together. I, Gabriel, decided that I only wished to be with this woman. We sealed our promise with a ring officially marking our in-person dating as official and well-discerned. On August 11 of 2022 and many visits later, I set out for California and settled down in Oxnard to be close to Lyn, with my intentions in heart already. Many dates and life lessons passed and we tended to our love like a flower, nurturing it to grow. Work occupied much of our time, but we had patience and faith for us. In March of 2023, we got engaged. I could not wait any longer and had to ask her. Since then we have been planning and preparing for our union. Looking back and to all that we have overcome, we proudly invite all of you to join in the celebration of our families being united as one, the Morales-Riggs family.
