We met for our first date at Dave & Buster's. Myles still remembers the first wave and smile I gave him when we recognized each other in the crowd. He now admits that was the moment he knew I was the one for him. We had a great time that night talking, sharing stories and getting to know each other. It's amazing how much we share in common. We both are not strangers to moving and living all over the country with our, yes non military families. We both are drawn to the mountains and ocean and have a passion for traveling. I also have never met someone that has the same dislike for cantaloupe and honeydew melon but still loves watermelon. Most important of all we discovered our life paths that we envisioned for ourselves aligned. Our date lasted six hours and we spent the majority of that time talking over dinner and a few drinks. Here we are at D&B and we spent a grand total of thirty minutes playing games. Myles walked me to my car and we said goodnight with a hug and a plan to meet again soon for a second date.
For our March vacation together we planned a ski trip to Snowshoe, WV. The mountains were absolutely breathtaking and the skiing and weather was wonderful. After our first full day of skiing we were back in our room getting ready for a nice dinner reservation at the farm to table restaurant in town. Myles had asked me earlier that day on the ski lift if he were to ever propose where would I like that to happen. I laughed and thinking off the top of my head said I don't know maybe during a nice dinner out. Little did I know that Myles was just waiting for the most natural moment to propose on that trip, earlier than later so we could spend the remainder of it celebrating our engagement. Well he didn't make it to dinner and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in our room while we were still getting ready. I was completely surprised. He had picked a very natural and intimate moment that just felt right for us. After many tears of happiness I finished getting ready and we proceeded to walk over to the restaurant, hand in hand, both of us beaming about our new engagement and the future married life we will share together.
