Once upon a time, Beatrice was six, J.J. was nine, and he wanted nothing to do with her. This is perfectly normal because what nine-year-old boy wants to do with a little girl? Unlike most fairy tales, we must fast-forward about 18 years later, where a series of events fell into place and the next thing J.J. knew, he was falling, himself, into love with this girl from long ago. They thought, "Hey, this could be something good," and gave it a try. Five years, four homes, a handful of trips, and countless happy (and sad) moments later, they looked at each other and decided that this was, indeed, something good. In spite of Beatrice's relentless prodding, ("Wouldn't getting married be so wonderful?!") and J.J.'s wily lies, ("You're not hoping I'm going to propose to you on this trip, right?",) J.J. did the impossible. He miraculously and romantically proposed to Beatrice on the remote shores of Reef Bay in the U.S. Virgin Islands, surprising her in that sweet, heart-warming way. After all, J.J. did warn Beatrice he wasn't going to propose and very kindly kept her from getting her hopes up... Damn, he's good. They, then, proved themselves incapable of making a decision (When? Where? Who?) which is no surprise to everyone else, until the moment they looked at each other and said, "This marriage is about us, so let's get married in exactly the way we live our lives."
