Brooke at 42 and urged by her cousin, Nicole, and Jim at 40, decided to get back on Match.com after both had many less than successful dates/ghostings/no-shows. It was Superbowl Sunday, 2024 and Jim reached out to Brooke, who reluctantly read the message. However, after reading his profile and seeing his photos, one that included a photo of him and what she assumed was his dad as well as the content of his message, she was pretty impressed. College educated, good looking, sports lover, aligned morals and goals. They continued chatting on the app the rest of the week and were having great conversations. They even talked about how cancer had affected their lives, although she wasn't quite ready to tell him everything about her journey over a text. By Friday, Jim gave Brooke his number and she realized it was a Northern Kentucky number, but didn't think much more about it. The next Monday was President's Day and Brooke had the day off and Jim asked if she had plans and she was on her way to hike in Adams County for the day. He asked if she had time if she'd like to get drinks that evening. She tried to play a little hard to get, but she already knew she would say yes and make plans. After hiking, she texted him back and they decided to meet at Warped Wing Brewery in Springboro, which was halfway between where they each lived. Brooke had warned Jim he was getting the real her, just coming off the trail and no prep time, he was totally cool with it. She arrived first, wearing a pair of leggings and a Muskingum sweatshirt. He showed up looking tall and handsome with his beautiful blue eyes and Brooke was even more impressed. They ordered beers, and Jim commented on Brooke's shirt, asking when she graduated and that she may know his sister....She asked who, and to her surprise, her sorority sister and classmate, Ryan is his older sister. Brooke immediately knew that everything they had talked about that week was true and that he was good people. Her wall immediately came down and they enjoyed the rest of their time that night, Brooke told Jim about surviving cancer and was so supportive since they had all been through it with his mom. They rarely spent a weekend away from each other while navigating opposite work schedules and 15 miles between them, but have closed that gap by purchasing a home together in Miamisburg in June of 2025. So many good memories have been made and adventures had so far and they're looking forward to more in the future. A true match in all ways.
