This is where the majority of our engagement pictures were taken! On the top of the cliffs, watch paragliders soar around Gliderport with a fantastic view. Or, you can always paraglide yourself! Down below, you can hike down to black's beach.
This is a fantastic beach, just a short (but steep!) hike down below Gliderport. Be aware, this is a clothing-optional beach. If you don't pair the beach with gliderport, we actually recommend La Jolla shores for beach time.
We recommend this beach for a fun day in the sun! Fantastic views, the beach is less crowded than Pacific Beach, and you can rent Kayaks and Snorkels along the shore! Plus, you can snorkel with the leopard sharks, as early November they are still close to shore! (Leopard sharks are harmless to humans).
Visit La Jolla Cove to go see the wild sea lions and birds, walk around La Jolla Coastal Trail, and a gorgeous view of the coast to the North. Visit Sunny Jim's sea cave for a part of local San Diego history, where smugglers used it during prohibition. Now only sea lions use it! Pro tip: seals have no ears and 'gallump' to move, whereas sea lions bark and have ears! Start at The Children's Pool (where the seals rest), and then head North on the La Jolla Coastal trail to hit the Cove (where the sea lions rest), then lastly the Sunny Jim's sea cave!
John and Jill's two favorite taco spots in San Diego are Taco Stand and Tacos El Gordo. Try both, and let us know which are your favorite to help settle the debate!!
Visit Balboa park, with the Japanese Friendship gardens, Spanish Village, Museum of Art, Cafes, and our favorite, the Botanical Building and Lily Pond!
Widely considered one of the best zoos in the world! Visiting the Zoo or the Safari Park is an iconic part of San Diego. The zoo currently is home to two giant pandas, Xin Bao and Yun Chuan. Check them out on the panda cam if you don't have time to visit the zoo!
While living in San Diego, this was our old neighborhood! Visit Lahaina beach house for a lovely sunset margarita, see Slo-Mo rollerskating while you walk along the board walk, or go to Crown Point to bike along the bay and beach!
This is one of our favorite views in San Diego. Kate Sessions Memorial Park is at the foot of Mount Soledad, and has a great view of the whole city. This awesome view is just two blocks north of our old apartment!
This is one of our favorite spots to eat and drink beer!! Close to our offices when we lived here, we came here all the time with our friends. We especially love the golden stout beer, and the food truck burger! It is a lovely brewery with outdoor seating and a koi pond, plus TVs if there are any good games on!
Some of our favorite flavors of ice cream here! There is a location in Del Mar called An's Hatmakers, and a location in North park called An's Dry Cleaning. Some of the best ice cream ever, with flavor names inspired by clothing materials!
