John and Jill first met at NC State during Jill’s sophomore year and John’s junior year in the fall of 2018 when Jill attended an info session for Phi Sigma Pi, a gender inclusive honor fraternity that John was a brother of already. John approached Jill and her friends, and made fun of Jill’s love of Chelsea FC, something he continues to do today. After being friends the whole school year, John and Jill ended up with internships at the same company, Wolfspeed! They spent the summer learning about the semiconductor industry and Silicon Carbide, what a SiC summer! After being friends for a while, John asked Jill out on their first date in February 2020, a trip to the Raleigh Art Museum. They had a lovely day wandering the museum and sharing life stories, only Jill didn’t realize this was a date. Not until many weeks later… John was persistent, and after some mild bribery (who can say no to free chipotle?) Jill agreed to be John’s girlfriend on April 1st, leaving John worried this was a horrible April fools joke. John had been working at Wolfspeed his senior year, and continued upon graduation in 2020, while Jill finished her senior year. Upon graduation Jill accepted an incredible job as a packaging engineer at Qualcomm. This new job came with a new challenge, as Jill would have to move to San Diego, starting their journey as a long distance couple. After 8 months of long distance, John accepted a new role in San Diego and moved to join Jill across the country. They had a blast exploring their new home together, meeting some of the most incredible friends, playing soccer, surfing, climbing, and enjoying the sunshine. John and Jill knew they wanted to get married, but Jill made John promise they wouldn’t get engaged until she was 25 as that’s when the brain fully develops! As they got closer to Jill’s 25th birthday, Jill designed her own engagement ring, the two found a jeweler who could execute the vision, and the ring was purchased! Thus began the longest 2 month period of Jill’s life. Finally a few days after her 25th, with help from their friends and excellent photographers Sam and Adam, John got down on one knee at the Carlsbad Flower Fields and Jill said yes!!! She even carried around John’s engagement ring with her every day so she was prepared to hit him with the uno-reverse proposal, and he of course said yes. During the wedding planning process, John got a new opportunity to work as a program manager at Apple, and the two have recently moved to the Bay Area to start their next adventure. They can’t wait for you to be a part of their big day, and look forward to seeing you in San Diego in November.
