Wedding Party

Heather

Officiant

Jessica and I met through a mutual friend 8 years ago—and honestly, I’m still not sure whether to thank or mildly haunt that friend for introducing me to someone who has singlehandedly made my laugh lines permanent. We grew up together, bonded over a shared love of beer, bad jokes, and even worse hiking attempts (they always turned into full-blown photoshoots—zero elevation gain, 100% Instagram content). When she met Nadia, something clicked. The kind of click that says, "Oh. That’s what it’s supposed to feel like." They balance each other in the most beautiful way, always uplifting and grounding one another. Watching their love grow has been one of the great joys of my life (and yes, I’m already crying). As for me I’ll be the one to have Tums in my purse, tear up at literally every toast (don’t look at me), and dance way too hard to 90s hits you forgot you loved. I paint, I read, and I take my role as Professional Emotional Support Human very seriously. I am so honoured to stand beside Jessica and Nadia on their big day. These two are the real deal—and I couldn't be happier for them.

Rae

Nadia's Maid of Honour

I’m Rae, Nadia’s Maid of Honour. My unofficial title is VP of Bride-Zilla De-Escalation. If you know Nadia, then you understand the significance of this role for everyone, especially Jess.  I met Nadia at university in 2018. More specifically (and not surprisingly), I met her at the campus bar. If you told me that Nadia would be my best friend AND that I’d be at her wedding, I would’ve been surprised. This is for two reasons:  1 We didn’t know what to make of each other at first. I thought she was loud, and she thought I was too quiet. 2 Back in the day, Nadia was the last person I imagined getting married in our friend group. Turns out she just didn’t like men.  But we were more similar than we thought. Our friendship bloomed over heated debates (yelling matches), and being the silliest of geese together.  I’ve had the privilege of watching Nadia become the most unapologetically true version of herself. I’m thankful she found someone who loves every part of her: her wild ideas, her tender heart, her unfiltered opinions, and her unmatched sass.  About me: I can be a little quiet sometimes, but when I have something to say, you’ll hear it. My love language is mild forms of bullying and I’m currently completing my MBA at UofC. My interests include: being richer than any man I date, humbling Nadia, and occasionally touching grass. Can’t wait to celebrate with you! With love (and chaos), Rae

Brandin

Jess' Maid of Honour

Hi, I’m Brandin, Jessica’s person of honour, former boyfriend (yes, really), and longtime partner in crime(s)? since Grade 7. I spend my days working in disability community support, and my nights living off-grid in the woods, because the only thing better than electricity is being unreachable. When I asked Jessica to be my girlfriend on the park slide of our small prairie town in 2011, I had no idea she’d end up marrying a woman. She was my first and last girlfriend, and I her first beard. That’s what we call gateway gays. 🫶🏻 From the prairie halls of middle school to the queer chaos of shared city living, Jess and I have been family through every phase of life. We’ve shared secrets, heartbreaks, successes, spotify playlists, and many questionable decisions. One thing that isn’t questionable however, is Jess and Nadia’s love. A love that is generous, rooted, and deeply queer; in all the best ways. They’ve built a home filled with warmth, queer magic and excellent snacks - I couldn’t be more honoured (or emotional) to stand by their side as they say “I do.”

Hailey

Nadia's Bridesmaid

Hi, it’s Hailey! I met Nadia in university, back when my hair was blue and she was straight - and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Over the years, we’ve bonded over patio beers, workplace gossip, and the “occasional” night out. By day, I work in marketing, and by night, I’m usually painting, drawing, or diving headfirst into whatever new hobby has caught my attention that week. But no matter how many side projects I pick up, one thing has always remained constant—my love for Nadia, Jess, and my excitement to stand by their side on their big day!

Will

Jess' Bridesman

Hello, I'm Will! You may or may not know me as Jessica's brother. I live in downtown Edmonton, and work at a dispensary. I enjoy long walks (because I don't drive) and quality time with my cat, Bandit. I met Jessica pretty early on in life, and knowing her and watching her grow has been an absolute treat! She has a great sense of humor, and is very organized and industrious. I respect her a lot and I am absolutely honored to be her brother. I met Nadia a few years ago and she is vibrant and full of personality. She is also conscientious and shares my sister's humor. From what I gather she is the life of the party, and has the ability to befriend anyone she meets. I am absolutely thrilled to get to know all of you, and I will have no shortage of embarrassing stories for the wedding (just kidding!)

Kelly

Nadia's Bridesmaid

Ni Howdy everyone, I am Kelly. I had the pleasure of meeting Nadia during our university days when we studied the important topic of communication. Actually, fun fact Nadia told me she didn’t like me when she first met me. But guess what, neither did I. You can really see how our friendship has blossomed since then. If you must know a little more about me, I work in the energy sector and I have two cats (Peach and Pekoe). I enjoy photography (sometimes), working out (if it’s not too hard), and cooking (without a recipe). I have the tendency to doom scroll on social media, overshare with strangers and honestly just have trouble knowing when to stop talking. I do blame my ADHD for that, but don’t worry I am medicated most days out of the week. Most importantly, why we are here - I am so excited to celebrate Nadia and Jess! I’ve had the pleasure of watching their relationship grow from a swipe on Tinder to where it is now. Two special people, whom I love and will have the pleasure of celebrating this special day with. One thing I love about Nadia and Jess amongst many is that you can be authentically who you are within the four walls of their home. They are loving, kind, genuine and hilarious people. Love you both mwah.

Jenny

Jess' Bridesmaid

Hi, I’m Jenny! As Jessica’s sister, I’ve had a built-in best friend for life — permanent shoulder to lean on, a matching winter coat buddy into our teens (thanks Mom), and she somehow still puts up with me. I’m usually out of the country baking pastries, reading by the water, or sipping some kind of international drink I can’t pronounce — but when I am home, you’ll find me in where I belong: asleep on Jess and Nadia’s couch, cuddling the true queen of the house, Cardi C. Getting to watch Jessica and Nadia build a life together has been equal parts hilarious, heartwarming, and deeply entertaining. I’m so happy to be part of their special day.

Nathan

Nadia's Bridesman

Hey there, I’m Nathan! Proud brother of the bride (Nadia) and one-half of the infamous twin duo that made my sister’s childhood chaotic enough to build character. Now, that I’ve retired from annoying my sister (well, mostly) I couldn’t be happier to see her marrying the love of her life. Don’t worry though, I still plan on bringing a little mischief to the wedding. Growing up together gave us endless memories and a bond that runs deep. I may have driven her crazy, but I’ve always admired her strength, her kindness, and her ability to laugh- even when life gets messy. Watching her grow into the amazing woman she is today has been one of the best parts of being her brother. I couldn’t be prouder to stand by her side on her wedding day, and I'm even more excited to see the life her and Jess will build together. Cheers to you both and cheers to all of you!

Kelii

Jess' Bridesmaid

Hi friends, I’m Kelii. I met Jess back in 2017 at a birthday party where, let’s just say, she was the only one who actually talked to me—and she’s pretty much been stuck with me ever since. We ended up working together at a shoe company (yes, retail trauma bonded us), and from there, we’ve survived breakups, graduations, major life shifts, and loss—all while getting closer and weirder over time. Jess has been my loudest hype woman through every impulsive decision I’ve ever made, and also the first to call me out when I’m being just a little too much. It’s a delicate balance, and she nails it. Now a bit about me: I’m the friend who will 100% cry during the vows, ask the DJ for one more Lady Gaga songs, and absolutely overshare with strangers in the bathroom line. I’m also incredibly honoured to celebrate two of my favourite people. Jess and Nadia have created a home (and a relationship) where people can be their full, messy, magical selves—and that’s pretty damn special. Love you both forever. Let’s party.

Jordan

Nadia's Bridesman

Hey! I’m Jordan and I’m one of Nadia’s twin brothers. She may be older than me but I’m taller than her. I was told to provide information to the guests about myself for this wedding website, which is weird since our family already knows me. But then I guess there’s other people invited so fair enough. I have my own farm with chickens, cows, ducks, peacocks, and a mean Rooster. Working a farm is tough stuff that keeps me out of the house and not needing wifi. When I’m not making worm fertilizer and it’s warm out I’d rather be skateboarding. If it’s cold out I’d rather be snowboarding. People are always wondering where I am- I’m either late or wandering off somewhere I think is cool. Here’s the thing… I’m always wondering why people want to know where I am all the time. Since I like Jess and I love my sister, I said yes to being in the wedding party. It’s super awesome she asked me to be her bridesman. I know Nadia likes to have a good time and throw sick parties so I’m excited for this wedding! See ya!

Adrien

Jess' Bridesman

Bonjour! I’m Adrien Lacasse—small-town Québec boy turned professional globe-trotter with Air Canada. I met Jess back in 2019, and what started as a casual friendship quickly spiraled into a full-blown saga of sneaky beers, floats down the Bow, all of the card games, and countless great memories. Somewhere in the chaos, she managed to set me up with my now-fiancé Kelii (thanks, I guess?), and roped me into planning engagements, orchestrating surprises, and generally fueling the fire of our collective wildness.    I may have crashed one of Jess and Nadia’s first dates, and become runner up for Ruben’s favorite human, but most of all, I’ve been a proud third wheel and loyal friend from the very beginning. I’m so grateful to know them both, and beyond excited to celebrate their love (and probably cry about it) with all of you. Let’s party!
