The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza
In-depth look at the JFK assassination from where the fatal shot was fired. Get tickets ahead of time. It can get crowded and take a while if you move at the suggested pace. Suggest walking through at your own pace - you'll skip a few stations but still get plenty of info. You should be able to see/hear everything you want in 1.5 hrs.
Klyde Warren Park
Outdoor park in the heart of Uptown with food trucks, beers, activities (giant jenga, ping pong, checkers, etc.). On nice days it's fun to walk around, have some drinks and people watch! The Dallas Museum of Art and Nasher Sculpture Center are also located here if you want to squeeze in a little culture.
Perot Museum of Nature and Science
Cool interactive science museum. We've never been on the weekend (they have an adult night that we've been to). It's a lot of fun but we've heard that small kids can hog the interactive exhibits ;). Call ahead and get tickets.
The Dallas World Aquarium
Lines can get long on the weekend so get tickets in advance or call ahead.
Topgolf
High tech driving range that serves food and drinks! Also has putt-putt and batting cages. Can get crowded so call ahead, but about a 15-20 min drive from hotels.
City Golf Club
Indoor facility where you hit into a course simulator. They serve you drinks and you can play 18 holes on the screen. Pretty pricey, so probably better for groups but it is located inside the Crescent.
Katy Trail Ice House
Casual outdoor beer garden with pinic tables. Can get crowded on nice days but great people watching. Walking distance or short scooter ride from the Crescent and Stoneleigh hotels. Food includes burgers and BBQ. Plenty of shade on hot days!
Happiest Hour
Large indoor/outdoor bar with multiple levels. Easy to find a table and good for big crowds. Better for drinking than eating but have a decent food menu. Rooftop bar has great views of the city!
The Rustic
Large indoor/outdoor beer garden type place. Great place for Texas craft beers and mason jar cocktails! Food is pretty good. They have live music most days of the week.
Stoneleigh P
Across the street from the Stoneleigh Hotel. Casual dive bar with a small patio.
The Loon
Super casual indoor/outdoor bar with covered porch and pool table. Strongest drinks in Dallas and all the food is good.
The Ginger Man Dallas
Casual beer bar with darts and an outdoor patio. No liquor, good sandwiches. Walking distance from wedding hotels.
The Henry
Newly opened Dallas location of the trendy West Hollywood restaurant/bar. Great food and great cocktails, price point is a little on the "Cali" side, but cool place for drinks or brunch! Reservations recommended. Check out the rooftop bar.
The Old Monk
One of our favorite spots! Old school pub where tables are first come, first serve. Great brunch, casual atmosphere. Has an outdoor area and covered porch. Walking distance to some other bars/restaurants in the Knox Henderson area. Ladies, check out Favor the Kind boutique nearby...
Capitol Pub
For all of you Charlotte folks, this was kind of the "Selwyn" of Dallas for a while. Casual atmosphere and good food. Large porch with picnic tables and fun music at night!
The Whipper snapper
Late night dance club. Lots of fun if you're in the right mood! There can be a line b/c it's not a huge place but if you're looking to get your dance on, this is the place to go. There's a casual bar next door called High Fives if you want to grab a drink before walking in.
Dot's Hop House & Cocktail Courtyard
Large outdoor beer garden with gravel and picnic tables in Deep Ellum. They have some games like giant Jenga and a large beer selection.
Braindead Brewing
Deep Ellum brewery that sometimes has live music. Good spot to have some beers but not much shade so bring your sunglasses! Food is ok but service can be slow when they are busy. Best as a quick stop on your way to exploring Deep Ellum.
Deep Ellum Brewing Company
These guys make some delicious beers. Our favorites are the Dallas Blonde and Deep Ellum IPA. Brewery has a tap room area for drinking and an outdoor patio.
Adair's Saloon
This is one of our favorites and a must for when we have friends visiting! Deep Ellum Honkey-tonk bar with grafitti on all the walls. Beer comes in cans and liquor drinks in cheap plastic cups but they have live music Thurs-Sat nights. Crowd is diverse - on any given night you can find SMU sorority girls or members of the Hells Angels but everyone is friendly.
Truck Yard
Casual outdoor beer garden in Lower Greenville with funky décor and a treehouse. Great for day drinking with many other restaurants and bars nearby. A True Dallas Original! Can get crowded on nice days. Food trucks line up along the back and the kitchen makes the best philly cheesesteak in Dallas. Check out the Bullzerk t-shirt stand for some original Dallas souvenirs.
HG Sply Co.
Large rooftop patio with good frozen drinks and a view of Lower Greenville. Popular and can get crowded. Not a lot of shade so bring your sunglasses/hats. Across the street from Truck Yard. Great food options that are super healthy...unless you don't want them to be! (Try the queso)
Nick & Sam's
Upscale steakhouse. What you might expect from a nice steakhouse in Dallas…beautiful people and good food :). Reservations recommended.
Shake Shack
Well known NYC burger chain, this location also has a ping pong table in a nice shaded area. Basically attached to the Crescent Hotel and serves beer.
Uchi Dallas/Uchiba
Very high-end sushi can be found at Uchi but Uchi-Ba is a more casual version. Uchi-Ba is upstairs and has the same sushi chef…think asian fusion. Both are walking distance from the Crescent and Stoneleigh but can get crowded. For Uchi, reservations recommended 1-2 weeks in advance.
Moxie's Grill & Bar
In Crescent Court. Good boozy brunch. More of an "uptown" vibe with attractive staff and clientele.
Coal Vines
Good Pizza/Italian with an old school vibe. Walking distance from both hotels.
Pecan Lodge
Often referenced as the best BBQ joint in Dallas. Expect a line out the door on weekends but it moves decently fast and is worth it!!! You’re in Texas...so it’s all about the brisket, baby. Located in Deep Ellum, there is plenty to explore around before and after. But, we don’t recommend showing up in your finest duds, because you will definitely leave smelling like a smokehouse ;)
S&D Oyster Company
Casual old school seafood. Menu isn't huge but they have good oysters and po-boys. Inexpensive and walking distance from hotels.
Sixty Vines
In Crescent Court. California style pizza, pasta and small plates. Lively crowd on most weekends, good brunch option. Reservations recommended.
Doc B's Restaurant + Bar
Good brunch, some healthy options for lunch or dinner. Decent walk or short scooter ride from hotels.
State & Allen
Good brunch and casual vibe. Try to get a table outside when it's nice but try to get there before noon otherwise it will get crowded. Walkable from the hotels
Mi Cocina
Casual tex/mex. Locations in Uptown/West Village and Highland Park Village. Highland Park location is more fun/popular - try the upstairs "Monkey Bar" for drinks.
Javier's Gourmet Mexicano
Upscale tex/mex. Large restaurant but is popular and can get crowded. They have a small patio and a cigar lounge. They don't take reservations so get there and have a drink while you wait!
Dolce Riviera
Upscale Italian with very cool bar and patio area. Fantastic service. Reservations recommended for dinner.
Highland Park Village
Very upscale outdoor shopping area where the who's who of Highland Park shop and dine! Whether it's for window shopping or a quick bite, fun area to explore when the weather is nice.
NorthPark Center
Best place to go for last minute wedding outfit shoppers or to pick up something you forgot! Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Nordstrom & Dillard's are here along with every other store you can think of. Across the highway you will also find the shops at Park Lane, with Saks, Bloomingdales, & Nordstrom outlets, and an Ulta. 15 min uber from hotels depending on traffic.
Drybar Dallas Uptown
5 min walk from the Crescent if you are in need of a blowout, ladies! Make sure you choose the Cedar Springs location when you book online, as there are a few locations in the city.
MiniLuxe Uptown
Located a block from the Crescent if you want a convenient location for a mani/pedi. An "all natural" nail salon that does not do acrylics. Reservations definitely recommended and a slightly higher price point than your average nail salon.
Nail Lua
This is where Jessica gets her nails done and it's a 5 min uber from the hotels. They do it all here and definitely recommend one of the organic pedicures! Plus they serve free booze...treat yo' self! Walk ins welcome.
