Like all modern love stories, ours started with a corny pick up line - although a bit more literally. Lisa had put out a dare to "hit [her] up with the corniest line possible." Though it pained Jesse to write - a fact that he made abundantly clear in his initial message to Lisa - she loved it. Our first date spilled quite quickly into a second, and - thanks in no small part to the meddling of some of our friends -we ended up spending most of that weekend together. We spent the rest of the year getting to know each other as we drove around Connecticut exploring wineries, breweries, and trails - some of our mutual interests. A year and a half later, Jesse received a fairly exciting job offer - one that would require a relocation to Michigan. Jesse confessed to Lisa that he wasn't interested in taking the job if it meant moving away from her. Lisa, ever the voice of reason said, "you'd have to be a complete idiot not to take that offer." In the Fall of 2017, Jesse moved out to Michigan, with Lisa joining him to ring in the new year. In May of 2019, we took a vacation down to Nashville, making pit stops at the Jim Beam Distillery and some state parks along the way. Lisa was having so much fun (and bourbon) that she didn't even notice the ring-box shaped bulge in Jesse's pocket the entire time. It wasn't until we were at the top of Burgess Falls in Tennessee, that Jesse mustered up the courage to get down on one knee and bumble his way through the question. Lisa swears that she said yes, Jesse swears that he had a panic attack because he hadn't been able to insure the ring yet and Lisa insisted on taking pictures of it directly over the waterfall. So much has happened since then - Lisa graduated from nursing school and became an ER nurse, and Jesse entered graduate school at U of M - we even bought our first house together and added little Cocoa Bean the kitten to our family. That's the story so far - we hope you'll join us for the beginning of our next chapter!
