The "Golden Triangle" of Lake Como refers to the three towns of Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio. These towns are located on the three branches of the "Y" shape of Lake Como and are considered to be some of the most picturesque and popular tourist destinations on the lake. They are known for their fairy-tale waterfronts, historic buildings, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains and lake. There are high speed ferry routes from Como/Cernobbio/Moltrasio that get you to Bellagio in 45 minutes. There are also regular ferries that run between the 3 legs of the triangle every 20-30 minutes. You could take the high speed to Bellagio, then go to Varenna for lunch, closing it down with afternoon cocktails outside the cafes in Menaggio square. REMEMBER, for your high speed ferry return ticket, you must book a seat in advance (do this when you buy your tickets that morning). There are copies of the ferry schedule at each stop, and online as well!

Bellagio

Known as the "pearl of Lake Como," Bellagio is considered one of the most picturesque towns on the lake. It is located at the point where the three branches of the lake meet and is known for its historic buildings, cobbled streets with tons of local shops, and stunning views.

Varenna

Varenna, Lombardia 23829, Italy

Located on the eastern shore of the lake, Varenna is a charming town known for its waterfront, narrow medieval streets, and charming gardens. Varenna has several restaurants lining the Waterfront that are perfect for lunch.

Menaggio

Menaggio, Lombardy 22017, Italy

This town is located on the western shore of the lake, and boasts a scenic lakefront promenade, historic churches, and beautiful gardens.

Villa del Balbianello

Lenno, Lombardy 22016, Italy

Villa Balbianello is one of the most famous villas on the lake. You may recognize this stunning villa from James Bond's Casino Royale or even Star Wars. It has beautiful terraced gardens and picturesque structures. It is open to the public through guided tours. The villa can only be accessed by boat (not car), but you may walk to it as well.
