Check those passports!! Italy requires passport validity 3 months post travel dates (6 months is recommended). If your passport expires prior to December 2025, we suggest renewing prior to travel.
You can get Euros from any ATM located within a bank. They are called "bancomat." Try to avoid using any bancomats that are on the street, go inside a bank. A debit card without foreign transaction fees will allow you to get the best rate, relative to the airport/hotel or any exchange hut. You don't need a ton of cash, as most shops and restaurants accept card, but helpful to have for cabs, tips or any smaller vendors.
Average temps on Lake Como in August range from 65-80°F. The ceremony will be held outside on the lake, while the dinner and reception will be indoors!
Luckily the area around the lake is walkable! Cabs are challenging to come by, and Uber almost never works. Make sure you have a plan when venturing out, and use the hotel concierge to schedule cabs in advance.
BEDDING: If you like a top sheet in between your comforter/duvet and fitted sheet, check your hotel bed when you check-in. In Europe, it is common for beds to come with just a fitted sheet and a comforter. FOOTWEAR: Bring comfortable shoes for daytime exploring, many of the streets/walkways are cobblestone with steep elevation changes. TRAVELING: When leaving Como by train, the train station is very small--it takes 5 seconds to walk through the entire station, no food options. If you are looking to eat prior to the train, there is this little restaurant less than 150 yards before the train station called "La Cornucopia." It is Europe after all, so still plan on 1+ hour for lunch. When traveling by train, the first class cabins are relatively inexpensive and its a great way to enjoy the travel. DINING: Keep in mind service will be slow. Take the time to enjoy the space, look around and be glad you aren't at work! Most servers will speak English, but have a little patience!
