Lodging and Travel

We're excited to welcome you Chicago, where we've happily made our home. See below for our recommendations for lodging and getting around. Please note, distances can be deceiving when it comes to Chicago's traffic. We recommend booking your stay within the city limits.

Hotel

The Robey

2018 West North Avenue
Chicago, IL 60647
 (872) 315-3050

We have reserved a discounted block of rooms at The Robey Hotel. The Robey Hotel is conveniently located a 7-minute drive from the wedding venue, a short walk from the Blue Line CTA train (which goes to O'Hare airport) and along the Milwaukee Avenue bus route (which will take you door to door to the wedding venue, should you choose to travel by public transit). In addition to a discounted room rate, The Robey offers discounted tickets to The Art Institute of Chicago. To secure the room block rate at The Robey, email reservations@therobey.com or call 872-315-3050 and mention the Block-Ervin wedding when you make your reservation by February 11. Please note there is a two-night minimum stay for the room block rate.

House Or Rental

AirBnB

AirBnb is a great way to immerse yourself in one of Chicago's vibrant neighborhoods. We frequently use AirBnb when we travel, as do guests who visit us. Renting a whole residence is a great way to comfortably accommodate a family or group of friends. Feel free to ask us for neighborhood recommendations.

Train

Chicago Transit Authority

Chicago's public transit system, the CTA, is an easy and cost-friendly way to get around, particularly when traveling to and from the airport. The Blue Line train serves O'Hare Airport and the Orange Line train serves Midway Airport. Buses are a great way to take shorter trips, particularly around downtown. Its schedules are integrated with Google Maps. A fare card, called Ventra, is needed for travel. The card costs $5 to purchase, but this cost is transferred to your card as transit value once you register your card. Cards can be loaded to pay for individual fares or you can purchase a multi-day pass for unlimited rides. https://www.transitchicago.com/fares/

Travel Note

Getting Around Chicago by Car

Lyft, Uber, and the Curb app (for traditional cabs) offer convenient ways to hail cars for transit. Parking in Chicago is often metered or permit-restricted, so take care if you are driving. We recommend Spot Hero for parking reservations: https://spothero.com/
