Brian's favorite museum in the city—maybe anywhere. Features rotating special exhibits for sciencey deep dives and world-class permanent exhibits on natural history.
Another absolutely world-class museum you could spend days exploring. We love the impressionists exhibit. If you are staying at The Robey Hotel, inquire at the front desk for discounted tickets to the Art Institute. (Other hotels may offer this amenity as well.)
Many Riverwalk restaurants will remain closed in March, but it's still a beautiful place for a walk through downtown. Our wedding weekend coincides with Chicago's St. Patrick's Day celebrations and the annual tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green, which will take place on Saturday morning. Come see the river, but prepare for a crowd!
Visit the John Hancock Tower's Signature Room. Enjoy a cocktail and take in sweeping views of the city and lake.
This is one of our favorite places to eat downtown. It specializes in Italian small plates and pizzas for sharing with your crew.
Great jazz acts play nightly at this infamous club. An old haunt of Al Capone's, complete with secret passageways to elude the feds. Look it up. Adults only.
One of our favorite places for a meal. Hopleaf is a Belgian-styled pub with one of the largest beer menus in the city and a phenomenal food menu. Get the mussels and frites! *Note from their website: Hopleaf is a rare dining establishment where children are not permitted at any hour.
Yummy food, funky vibes. Wallet-friendly, kid-friendly, munchy friendly, all around friendly. Three locations, but this one is near our venue and hotel.
There are four Cafe Tola locations. EMPANADAS!!! (and tacos, tortas, and burritos at the larger locations). So. Good.
Divey bar with live entertainment every night (sometimes jazz, sometimes comedy, sometimes something else). Brian and Jess went on their third date here in 2014. Or was it the fourth?...
